Well, my turbo setup is going in on Thursday/Friday. I'm running an Apexi kit (manifold and IHI turbo), fmic, etc, etc in my '89 hatch (see sig) with a d16a1 ecu. I have dsm 450s and a SAFC and will run the hack. My question is, is it okay to run the basic settings (as per dropshop.com's write up) on my car? Even though I am at around a mile above sea level? I just need some insight to this, as I have never owned a V/SAFC. I've done some research online, but most of the info seems to be the same. BTW - boost will be around 9-10 psi. Please get back ASAP. Thanks a lot.

The AFC hack should work fine at altitude. I will be using the same for tuning on my Z6. Just remember to use a big fuel pump and bigger injectors. As the AFC drops the voltage to the map sensor it will flow less volume to the fuel system. If a DSM can use the same basic set up at altitude pushing 20+psi and run mid 12's (20 GST on COSR/CRN) than I'm sure that it will work on our cars at 10 psi ish. I'm in the springs too. Good luck with your ride.

I am running those numbers at 9500 ft, so you should be fine until you get it dynoed of course. You do NOT need a fuel pump if you plan on running a max of 10-12 psi. If you want overkill then go ahead and spend it. I would save the money until I absolutely needed it.

Alright, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear. Thanks a lot guys.

blk95ex - what's your setup?

D16z6 Bolck and Head
Head:1mm oversized valves int/exh, zex 59300 cam, HD valve springs w/ Ti retainers. P&P, ARP studs, and a ported Y8 manifold with a big bore BBK TB.
Block: Nitrite coated crank, eagle rods, wiseco 8.8:1 pistons, balenced and blue prinded to include the clutch and flywheel and crank pulley. A coustom machined block guard with as many cooling passeges as can be had and still make it efective.
Induction: Tial 35 mm WG dumped to atomsphere, SS autocrome manifold that will be reworked and braced a lot. T-3 60-1, and a greedy type R BOV.
There is a lot of other stuff that is going into the car as well but these are the main points. The car used to belong to Scuba Steve, if you know who that is. Its the black civic coupe that was taged V-8 Killa back a few years ago.

As for right now its in a bunch of pieces in my garage. It will be out of its shell soon.

Good luck

Right on man. Isn't Scuba Steve rollin' a silver STI these days?

Yes, that thing is Supa Bad! The black civic I have used to have a B18/B16 turbo set up, it ran 12.70 at PMI with the help of nitrous. I hope that with my motor build I can run somewhere close to that. The technology at that time was no where near what it is today. Back then they just kind of through boost and fuel at the car and hoped every thing worked. But it was a 12 sec street car with a full interior in a coupe non the less, so it did work.

Good luck
