Hello d-series, I've read some good things on d-series.org lately, so I figured I'd join. I'm a member on RPR, so I'm no n00b to the D Series. Currently i'm working on getting my '85 CRX up and running. Here's some info on it:
-It's completly gutted, and will be painted a nice low-gloss black inside/out.
-The engine consists of what's known as the Hydra. It's an EW2 1500cc block that will be bored (in May) .04", or 1mm, to fit '87 D16A1 pistons, the stock SOHC head has been replaced with an '87 D16A1 1600cc DOHC head, and one of the biggest improvements is... are the 38mm Mikuni carburetors taken off a Suzuki GSXR (which is similar to having ITB's but without being FI), it will also have a 2" side-exit exhaust system with 1 or 2 straight-through mufflers. It should put out around 125hp.
-Interior has been COMPLETELY gutted and has a weld-on quick release hub with aftermarket steering wheel, polyethalyne high-back drag seats, 4-pt harnesses, keyless ignition, and hoping for a 6-pt roll bar.
-Exterior is completely stock, except for the custom rear difuser in the back bumper, and a lexan sunroof. It will however be painted black.
-As for suspension, not too much there. Polyurethane bushings and will have a custom 19mm rear swaybar.
So as you can tell, i'm not new to this, and I can't wait to get this project finished so I can get it on the strip.
The other car that I work on is my little brother's '88 CRX Si. It's has the D16A6 engine (he's saving for a B Series) and will be getting some IHI RHB5 boost action this summer. Currently he is painting it '06 Porsche Boxter Midnight Blue... well over 15k worth of body work if we got a body shop to do it. But he can do it all professionaly himself, so it'll only run about 1k.
I hope to seek help and give advice when needed,
-Scott
