Over 65 posts...

I think this is a GREAT idea as well! I had noticed an increase recently in the number of banninations and post deletions due to not meeting selling requirements... I'm wondering, though, if we'll end up with more crap posts in the regular forums as a result...?

A post limit is fine. I just was curious what the requirements were. I for one think it's not a bad idea. Most folks who'd do shady stuff wouldn't stick around long enough to do so this way.

DSM talk has it set up so that you need to be a member for atleast 90 days to view, and then the post limit to post. can we get something like that? i don't think it's necessarily fair to keep people who need parts from the classifieds, if they're a lurker, ya know?

i think this is a great idea also, but maybe re-think the 65 post minimum, i say it should be a little harder to get, 65 posts is not that many really, i say maybe 120 +/- just so we can read some of their posts and see what the person is like, then we could have a more distinctive feeling ( to buy or not to buy) about our business on d-series. btw thanks to all the mods for the site, im on a lot and you guys do a great job of keeping d-series real, :TU: :TU:

Don't want to let the post totals go too high...folks like me, who are new to Civics, but really only use them for DD action don't need to ask as many questions, but do like to find technical information. Having access to parts, etc. for sale is nice, too :)

well, the for sale forums are in house forums where everyone should be accustomed to knowing a little about each other before making transactions. no one in the members for sale thread is a legit buisness so it's nice to know who you are dealing with so you can tell how things will play out with a certain member before you make the transaction. if you post once every 2-3 months then no one knows who you are and probably would be hesitant to trusting you. it's not something you should use if you're not around very much. you can be taken advantage of if you purchase something from a well known member and they don't send it. it's there for you as well.

take a look at your situation:

1. you just joined this month
2. obviously because you're looking for parts since you seem to be a H-T regular instead
3. so you're only here (at least initially) to use our for sale forum and NOT to be a regular contributing member

why do we want contributing members? Because this site is free, only runs off donations and the admins (mostly sean's) personal expense. He wants a site for people to share knowledge... the for sale forum is just a by-product of this community. But we're a community first. We don't want people who are here to buy and sell. We want people who are here to share knowledge.

Sure, it's partly to help stop scammers, but mostly it's to make this a community forum and not a craig's list type site<-- note the word "forum"

forum - a public meeting or lecture involving audience discussion

Hell, make it 100 posts and require that people actually sound as if they have had some english in school past the third grade. Oh, wait, this has nothing to do with the for sale section...I personally think it's a great idea to make them invisible till they've established themselves in the community a bit...and Ryan, you are very correct in saying that people will take a mile....hell they'll take ten if they have the opportunity.

Nothing personal bud but that is the exact reason why I usualy don't join automotive forums or stay active in the 24/7. Also acting like that gives autosports a bad name.

If you don't have anything constructive to say feel free to keep the immature comment to yourself. Also feel free to grow up, I hate to see "grown" men and women act like 6th graders.

I understand you all have rules and what not. I do come on here to pick up useful information and learn a little more information about a car I've had for less than 2 months. Buying and selling stuff is up there in the ranks since I have more parts that arn't revelent to anything I'm doing to my car that I'm sure someone else could use.

People are usualy scared to ask questions because they've seen on other forums where people get "flammed" or get rude responces like "yeah? too fucking bad." Thus, a question is not asked or, if it is asked, does not get answered in a matter revelent to anything

Yea I signed up for H-T and got flammed on one question, I brought that on myself 100% by not searching every possiable way for swapping a civic front on my sol. To me, the h-t members seem to be quick to flame. It's understandable with constant repeate post that are easly searched because they are so common. "N..."
"I'm Ryan89crx...moderator of D-series.org."
"Oh, hell yeah! What's up?"
"You posted in the classifieds."
"Yeahhh, you know I posted my car uuup, aaand it wasn't until after that that I noticed the rul-"
*WHOCK!!!*
...punched me right in the throat... then pulled at my ear, and pointed at me really hard.
His last words were "65 POSTS BITCH!" as he walked off.

i understand the post count was instated because of a few bad users, but some of us are legit.

id like to buy something in the forums, but not sell.

can this be changed to maybe view only in the classifeds for the noobs?

there was more than a few that caused it but i do agree with maybe doing something for people with under 65 posts maybe able to make a wtb thread or something along those lines

The only annoying part is I can't buy anything until I get 65 posts...

Other than that it's a pretty cool addition to the forums.:)

as a noob, i agree that at least a measure must be taken for people to be responsible when it comes to selling stuff online. i myself i'm a victim of those asswipes. but then, it pisses me off that i just can't even browse that darn forum because i don't have enough "standing" to do it, while someone who has it has ripped noobies or kings or whatever of their hard earned cash by selling worthless shit and now pretends to be a saint and yada yada (not being personal to anyone here). hell yeah, a measure must be taken. i totally agree with that. what i don't think it's fair is to point the finger to noobies and expel them from the "For Sale" forum. if the "For Sale" forum has a problem, is everyone's problem and not just noobies'. it's not fair, and it doesn't secure anyone from any asswipe, be it a dirty bona fide member or a noobie who then goes posting crazy just to rip off anyone in the near future. dixit.

it has to deal with people not coming here only to use the forum for classifieds. if you want to use the classifieds, become part of the ds community. plain and simple

i get it, ryan. i -simply and plainly- consider myself part of that community you're talking about, even when i'm not post crazy and i ask a lot for help. since i came to d-series i feel that i belong to a community that helps me stand behind my d engine and not ditch it for a easy-route b or h or whatever. you just got to understand that for me the chosen remedy is a hard to swallow pill, and maybe is only me, but maybe there are others who feel the same way. i decided to say something about it. just that. so, plain and simple, i'll keep posting then. shake hands, end of discussion. dixit.

I think the reason why noobs arent allowed to see it, let alone post in it. Because there are other means of getting around the block for a purchase/trade etc. You can browse, see what you want, and pm the guy or im him or what have you.

For the scamming people that have come here lately, I think it is a harder pill to swallow then just being completely banned from it for just a measely 65 posts (that can EASILY be done in a weekend) There are at least 30 new threads every few days, post a few times in each with something helpful and bam by saturday you can check it out. Just be glad its not a couple hundred.

I still dont get how this discussion is still going on, it isnt life or death, and it is only freakin 65 posts. If you want to go buy and sell something before the 65 is up, you have two options. Wait or check out other forums.

because everyone claims they are hre to view, buy, sell and that isnt what the staff feels this site is to be used for.... so everyone that doesnt want to take the time to post a bit is bitching like little fucking kids

oh i know thats true, and no matter how much the noobs bitch and moan about it, they become apart of the community if they like it or not. Some how some way, they will make just one thread about selling something. and the other 100 or so posts are something helpful.

This thread should be ended. It boggles my mind that people bitch about 65 posts. And if thats all they want, is to buy/sell there are much better forums for it. No offense to the d-series crew, but not many people use this as a means of getting parts. Jdmu or clubcivic or HT are by far better. And plus there people are getting rid of the d's :TU: exactly what we want.

well, the for sale forums are in house forums where everyone should be accustomed to knowing a little about each other before making transactions. no one in the members for sale thread is a legit buisness so it's nice to know who you are dealing with so you can tell how things will play out with a certain member before you make the transaction. if you post once every 2-3 months then no one knows who you are and probably would be hesitant to trusting you. it's not something you should use if you're not around very much. you can be taken advantage of if you purchase something from a well known member and they don't send it. it's there for you as well.
