I kinda stumbled on this place by accident.

I am recently the new owner of a pretty decent 99 Civic. This past weekend, it got me and my girlfriend from Cincinnati to Michigan at a steady 39mpg!

It's a stock 99DX coupe (5spd) with nothing modded but a self-done tuneup. It will stay relatively stock with the exception of new wheels, tires, and a set of Koni reds to replace the stock struts. I also am working on purchasing a tach equipped cluster.

I hope I can contribute to the community at large :)

In case anyone's curious, here is my other ride, a well-modified 97 Mazda Miata (http://roadsterjdm.net/forum/garage.php?mode=view_vehicle&CID=6):TU:

Also, the right rear part of the bumper is bad:

Both will need to be replaced, but are holding together for now. In addition, the front window needs replaced. Even so, it's in tip-top mechanical shape, aside from needing a really good alignment. Perhaps with next year's bonus/tax refund, I'll get the whole thing repaired and painted...if I'm not buying an engagement ring before then ;)

My insistance is on a stock look (hence the "no big honking tach just because my car didn't come with it" attitude), because this car is strictly Daily Driver. The Miata was previously my only car, and I was stupidly modding it up to the point where I couldn't stand to drive it everyday (it's been driven in two winters now).

As for the Civic, I bought it off of my old roommate's wife for $3500 with just under 155k on the clock. She had bought it brand new at age 18 and it was maintained by her uncle, a head tech at one of the local Honda dealerships. She had EVERY reciept to prove this :)

the Miata is tight ... do you auto-x? or was it built for some fun runs through the twisties?

the Miata is tight ... do you auto-x? or was it built for some fun runs through the twisties?Thank you. It's being built for both. I had bought it as a daily driver, but over time, it has become too modded for daily comfort. Once I fix some mechanical gremlins (I suspect an engine rebuild soon), I am going to start stripping weight from the car to get it to about 2200lbs, which should be plenty fun :)

Interestingly enough...after driving a Miata exclusively for two years, the Civic feels at first like a BARGE! I laughed for two days straight at just how much room I suddenly had:thehump:

Looks like the Konis will be going in on the 23rd :)

For now, I need to find a set of 14" alloy wheels...does anyone have a set of stock alloys for sale?

nice miata man, civic needs some tlc but its fine for a dailyYeah...it's gotten an oil change, as well as new plugs, wires, air filter, and fuel filter. Can't wait for the Konis!

I'm kinda holding off on tires until I find a set of wheels, though I'm half tempted to get some real sticky stuff and wait till it dies out. Also need to get the brakes sorted out.

civic needs some work, but after looking at that miata, i'm sure you'll get it there. :TU:I've only had it registered for maybe a week at this point, but it's going to be well cared for under my ownership. Nothing fancy, but definitely good :)
