I have a V-AFC, what should i set my V-tec to kick in at? to me it would seem like i could set it to kcik in when my boost kicks in (around 3k) it would benefit the turbo as well with more flow....but then again, it could have more wear and tear ont hee motor when it's set down that low...am i correct? and what should i set it at do you think?

Leave it where it is, if you want to change it do so by no more than 500rpm.

only 500rpm? why so little?

First off VTEC works on the oil pressure and the pressure is there low down the rev range. If you do set it at 3K something will fuck up.
Second although VAFC is a good toy it's by no means as usefull as proper mapping in a chipped ECU. By this I mean the fuel and igniton want be set right and you don't want detenation on a Boosted motor.

makes sense to me...so 5000 is best?

If you set it too low it will bog out and may f@wk up your motor. Vtec is not a widely tuneable powerband, and its by no means some magical power adder.........LOL learn more from archives before you start fiddleing with stuff.

there are more that just one series of honda motors that run vtec and the variables in all are the same..... as I stated dont run it low its not what you think it is. The info is all out there within search engines and howthingswork.com , these systems were put on the net to help find info about things. its easyer to go to them for easy info you dont know cause it keeps from having people type it up over and over again.... do you see what i mean??

he didn't fiddle with anything yet. He asked a question. Last time I checked asking a question isn't a crime, and actually thats why they put teachers in a classroom and not just hand someone a book. Something that is common knowledge to you might not be to someone else. So hopefully next time when you ask someone a question in a subject that you might not have to much knowledge, hopefully they don't ridicule your ignorance. Sometimes its just in the way u say it. Try giving him the advice without laughing at him and then suggest that if he's really that interested there's a couple of websites that break down the way VTEC works.

500 rpms' seems even like a big change to me. 300 top IMO, if you have to change it. VTEC kicks when it is supposed too. Personnally, I'd never adjust it.

oye....if i set it to 4700 or 4500 it won't hurt anything...the oil pressure would be fine by then, and it wouldn't bog it cause tahts the about when honda engines start pulln hard. so i think it will be fine.... kinda?
lol

My head package came with a new ecu and the vtec ingaugement point was actually increased. Stock a d16z6 kicks in at 5200, now mine ingauges at either 5600 or 5800, can't remember which.
