My question is: would it be better to put a Y8 Trans on my Z6 motor? Im in need of a tranny and Im not sure whether or not to go with the 5th gen ex trans, or the 6th gen trans. Has anyone done this?

I'm in the process of doing a Y8 trans on a Z6 block, just waiting on some parts, what questions do you have.

Don't know about the second off thing, but i'm still waiting on the little stuff, i.e shift rods, clutch master cylinder, pedals, computer, etc. I'm having the tranny rebuilt right now at my shop, so that should be done soon.

the y8 trans is NOT the same as the 6th gen Si.. B series and D series dont match up. no the 5th gen Si will match up, but its the same tranny as the 5th gen ex

My brother-in-law is running a d16z6 motor and he's also running a y8 tranny on it. It's doing 15.6 in the quarter and the revs are damn fast. It's basically stock with only an air filter and muffler. He says the final drive on the tranny is different from a z6 tranny and i feel a big difference in the way his car picks up.
