Ok, guys, I'm not a real suspension guru (hence the questions here)...So can you all give me your input on 2 possible setups.
Car: 1991 honda civic sedan
Option #1: Stock struts with R1 coilovers, 1 inch drop.
Option #2: Tokico Blues with H&R stage 1 sport (oem style) springs, .75 inch drop.
I'm not looking to lower the car very much, so the .75 inch or the 1 inch are A-ok with me.
What I want, is a more aggressive stance, and better traction. I have 14inch HX rims, and I'm not going any larger on the wheels, I will however eventually get some lower profile tires. I dont want to make the suspension so stiff that my cd player will skip and break if i hit a pot hole, but I want it a little firmer than stock, with a sporty feel to it.
Option #1, or #2??? I have all the parts for #1, money isn't gonna be a big issue if #2 is the way to go...so let me know what ya'll think ;)

Its rides really nice handles good. The tires start to break before the suspension. It dosent bouce like you see on most peoples car when they lower it.
well option 1 is retarded. if you drop your car on your stock struts, they will hate you. might as well cut your springs.
option 2 is better, but i've *heard* both good and bad things about tockio blues. oem style springs? are they the same rates as stock? if your going to upgrade your springs get some stiffer ones at least.
koni yellows with ground contol coilover sleeves and custom rates is what i recommend you go with. but if your just looking for ride comfort, then stay stock.
personally, if i wanted ride comfort i'd a bought a buick. soon i'll be going with buddy club racing spec damers with 1200 f 1600 rear just to see how big my balls are.

get some TEIN type RA coilovers w/ the electronic controllable dampening force ...
hes talking about tockio blues and hr springs, for ride comfort, and your suggesting some $1600 coilovers with a $300 unnecessary blingin accessory.
tein is way overpriced, and the quaility isn't anything to get excited about for the money. the ras are very very nice, but i'll take some buddy club racing spec dampers with stiff rates.
i went from koni yellows with ground controls 300f, 400r to tein ss 448 224 and man am i kicking myself - i was drunk and couldn't pass up the price. tein is hyped up jdm stuff, and for the money, their products are not worth it at all. look at suspension decision posts on other honda boards, everybody with experience raves about the koni / gc combo, and with good reason.
to the thread starter:  i highly recommend the koni yellow / ground control combo. save up and go with it: ride comfort, and good handling for a good price, because of custom spring rates. so instead of being locked in to a manufacture's selection of lousy rates, you pick what best suits your needs.
224 rear?? wtf is that? teins will be sold for some buddy club racing spec, or maybe i'll get my konis back shortly.

alright first of all .. I was joking .. i suggested him the most expensive tein setup possible .. calm down ..
heheh i was hoping so. seemed like a very off the wall suggestion. but the n1, re, ht, hg, and rs models are more than the ra. ;)
oh by the way: if you do choose a full coilover setup, and you have a 5th gen, you can get any one for an integra and bolt it right up no problem. i say this because tein typically gives stiffer springs to the integra models - i don't know if any other makers do the same.

exactly which springS? The ones I am looking at lower the car .75 inches (for the "OEM" style, barely a drop) but have a more sporty feel to them. I want a little firmer than stock, but not "break my cd player" stiff"

alright guys, here's the write up on the springs im looking at. this is a better definition of it...
OE SPORT
H&R OE Sport Springs lower your vehicle subtly, giving it a slightly more aggressive stance without radically changing its appearance. Designed to enhance front-to-rear balance and street handling performance, OE Sport Springs take the "wallow" out of the stock suspension, yielding a more taut feel and improved ride characteristics. All this while retaining the ride comfort you're accustomed to.
