My civic has been sounding sluggish when I start it. Usually is zip zip and starts but now its likeit almost cant do it? Is that the battery going? because I was under the impression they died all at once, all the sudden.
Has anybody heard anything about hose Optima Red Top batterys. Your supposed to be able to mount them anywhere, even upside down. Not that I have a use for one of those. I think they're also supposed to last like for 10 years. I dont know. Do you?

Optima's are good. A lot of people I know use the yellow top ones. Not too sure of the difference, but they last.
Your battery may be going. If it's kinda a slow chug to start it, it could be the battery. Of ocurse there's other things it might be, but it's hard to say without hearing it, or other symptoms.
Are there other symptoms? Have you cleaned your battery terminals lately? Any white residue or anything?

Yellow top is a Deep Cycle Gel Battery and yup mount upside down if you want.
Normally use for SPL
zac - get a spare one and plug it in and see if it work, other than that can you get a hold of a Amp meter?

Well today I got a new battery from SEars. Is a DIEHARD and yes I hope I do!! ANyway the car starts beautifully and zips along good now.
go diehard. Some asshole at a import shop tried to sell me a Interstate but it was overpriced and the Diehard has more cold cranking amps.

if you're unsure about the battery take it to autozone and they'll test it for free. they put it under a load and can also check to see if it is your alternator (probably not)
