Well I'm bout to pull the tranny and throw in a new clutch (not sure which yet) and flywheel. At the same time I'm throwing in a Limited Slip Traction Unit ("twintrac") unit from azracemachine.com. A few people I've talked to run it and love it. Im at 8psi on a stock d16y7, what tranny would be best for my setup? Im assuming either a y8 or z6. But I need people that know allot about these to help me decide. Thanks.

You all ready have the best gearing for the turbo set up, longer gears are great.

Shorter gear are better for acceleration!

So i would go with the y8...cause it has less chance to be damaged(newer!)

Ok, for Naturally aspirated cars the short gears are better, for the turbo, keep your y7 tranny. The longer gears allow you to stay in the boost part of your powerband longer. Keep the tranny you have now. Rick

I have a friend who just build a turbo GSR.

at fisrt he thougt, like you, that longer gear would be better for turbo....so he installed a ls tranny. but after some testing he find out he would be faster with the gsr tranny. faster on 1/4, on track and on street.

I know it can be a long discussion, cause he had the same wih other but i'm basin my self on fact....

One other i wanted to add is that yes you'll stay longer in boost and in gear but your acceleration will also be less, so i'll take more time to get to speed!
