I had been having a strange problem with my car. Its a civic with a D16Z6 it has I/H/E and throttle body also cat bypass. It has also been custom mapped (shipchip in the UK) on a Dyno. The rev limiter has been raised to 8000 rpm. I had been having the problem resently of the rev limiter coming in at 7400 in second and 7600 in third similar in fourth. but some day it would rev to 8000 rpm. I replaced the dizzy cap and rotor as they were up for replacement. It now revs fine, car is so much smoother.

My ? is was the dizzycar/rotor making the speedo out or was the engine just not reving write. As i not sure how a rev counter takes its reading. :?:

You are asking to throw a rod on a stock bottom end if your excede the stock red line. Unless you have changed the cam and P&P'ed your head, there is very little to be gained by going past red line.

It takes it from an electrical pulse and then converts it to a signal...

How would changing the CAM and doing a PnP going to stop you from throwing a rod?

How would changing the CAM and doing a PnP going to stop you from throwing a rod?let me try and interpret his remark.....Not that PnP/cam will save you from throwing a rod, but that theres no purpose in reving past redline without such mods. IMO a y8 can rev to 7800 safely on stock internals..........
