Y7/Y8's have been having oiling problems on the cranks.
The blocks are different between the D15 and D16's

you've said that before ... what problems are you talking about ?? ive never heard of these oiling problems with the crank ? ... not saying they dont exist ... just trying to understand what happens? :?: :hijacked: <-- sorry
Do a search on rod failure and you will see most of them are D16y8. The head is a nice piece along with the intake manifold. Ill stick with the D15 bottom end.

hmm...interesting. i've never heard that one before. maybe i should look into that with my y8. but to answer your question, mini-me's and such are a good way to go, or a d16y8 or a d16z6. both are pretty good for modding and such.

from the insider info I'm getting, core shift of the casting from using same molds for 12 years.
Same molds for 12 years? That's just for the bottom end, right. The change in the heads/intake/fuel management over the last decade obviously shows that was their focus. What about the D17? Is that bottom end case the same? Or a complete redesign?

the D17 is quite different... different journal sizes, spacings and such...
The rods are 137.5 on the D17, is this correct? Ive heard they were pretty thin. I havent seen one myself.
