Do you know if honda made stiffer OEM valves springs who fit in y7 head?
I plan something stiff, but not to stiff, for 272 delta cam, and I want something that cost less than aftermarket springs...

thanx

I wouldnt push the limits on any stock honda d series springs, if u wanna big cam u gotta get aftermarket springs if u wanan use teh cam to its potential.

Sure !

But 272 isn't the most agressive that aver builted ! I wanna know if any B - D - H - K - F series have better quality valves spring than my Y7 head, in the way, cheaper than aftermarket ones.

So, does vtec valve springs fit with non v-tec head too ?

thanx

It would be nice to find a cheaper oem alternative.

Aftermarket springs are relatively cheap. I believe that the crower springs are only around $150. It is the spring+retainer combo that goes for around $280-350 (depending on brand).

Crower, can't go wrong!! Trust me

Crower it is then. Do they make a set specifically for the y7 or are they the same as the y8 or z6? I would like to build this y7 head up strong before I stab a cam in it.

If I could find something better than mine into OEM stock, I'll split 1/4 of price about aftermarket ones...

I don't need to lighten my valve train and retain it too stiff, I'll use 'mild-mid 272 cam' and don't want to rev up too 7000rpm... just something better, not necessarily the best one...

If you don't want to rev to 7k, then I don't think that you will get all of the power out of a 272 cam. Increasing the duration on a cam typically moves the peak power up the rpm range. I believe that the *GENERAL-NOT-CONSIDERED-LAW* rule is every 10deg of duration moves the peak power up another 1000rpm.

Also, all d-series have roughly the same redline 6800-7200. So I doubt that you will find a better oem spring.

FYI, OEM valve springs are roughly $7/each, and you need 16...

According to the article here http://www.tprmag.com/issue/2/2_camshafts_3.shtml
every 10 degrees extra duration moves the power peak up 500rpm.

:D thanks for the correction. I misquoted the site. I couldn't remember where I got that number from.

yes true .. why put a 272 cam if you dont wanna rev to 7200 .. with the cam and new springs it would make it SAFE to rev that high ... dont be afraid to unleash the H power ...

The guys at delta cam said me 272 will be better than 260 for my actual setup... I don't want to repogram my ECU, speed shop who make it is about 3h of home ...

I just want something that rock little bit the power and torque curve, from idle to redline !

That 272 would be really nice with my carbs.
