hey , i took a 92-95 d16 w/ vtec block and put a 88-91 d15 1.5 non vtec head on it. I then did the mpfi swap to it succesfully .I used the 1.5 timeing belt sence the head is a 1.5 . The only thing i can think of that might be my problem is that i axidentaly used a 1.6 head gasket becouse i was told it was a 1.6 head but it is a 1.5. The problem is that when its runnning it sound like it has a miss like a spark plug or wire isnt fireing, but the strange part is that when i went to take off the spark plug wires one at a time it to see which one was bad(brand new plug wires) i took out #1 and it died! it should run off of 2,3,and 4 roughly. Then the other wierd thing is that it runs the same with plug wires 2,3and 4 off at the same time, still running like it only has one bad plug? New spark plugs! With the plugs out of the head they all spark and in order from right of engine to left 1,2 ,3 then 4. Thers no way it stays running with 2,3and4 plug wires off still reving like it only has 1 bad wire. The only think i can think is the raised compression wich is only like 9.7 to1 instead of 9to1 becouse of the different head, makeing it keep going like a diesle ? WTF i need help bad, know of any automotive forums where mechanics hang out that work on cars so much know about this weird stuff, ima try puting a 1.6 head, gasket, andtimeing belt on it but this is still wierd.

your plugs are in the wrong order. 1-2-3-4 is for the distributor. i dont know the plug order off hand. i had a similiar thing when i put a z6 head on a a6 block. it would start but ran like crap. pulled the wires off 1&2 and it would misfire, then i pulled off 3&4 and nothing happened. then i switched 3&4 and it ran fine.
Did you install an oil jet?The z6 block wont have one and the b2 head needs one. Why did you swap from a vtec to a b2 head? Just curious.

becouse i bought the 92-95 vtec engine for 300 from a wrecked car, i put it in a 88-91 hatchback, wich is obd0 ,92-95 is obd1, i didnt want to convert to 92-95 ecu, wireingharnes, and distributer, EXPENSIVE and hard, so vs a whole motor swap i just used the d16z6 block, becouse all d series are the same, and put a d16a6 88-91 si 1.6 head on it wich takes away vtec , but also raises the compresion from 9to1 to 10to1

does anyone know what the spark plug fireing order is? From right to left the clyinder # is 1 ,2,3,4 , i got it running great in fireing order 1,2,4,3 , but i thought it should be 1,3,2,4, maby my injectors are fireing in the wrong order, all i have to do is switch the connectors on them.

Using a d16a6 head on a d16z6 will lower the compression. the chambers of the a6 are larger than the z6. you will be running between 8.4:1 - 8.8:1 depending on the head gasket you use, d16a6 vs d16y8
