Whats the best Intake manifold i could run on my JDM d15??? Is it possible to run the IM from a D16Y8 on it even tho the d15 is OBD-I and the Y8 is OBD-II?

D16Z6 on a D15B7 was my setup, but a Y8 can be made to fit also.

What would it take to make the Y8 fit??

just run the z6 mani .. it would be easier than using an obdII manifold

I realize it would be easyer, but what makes it so hard to run an obd-II IM on an obd-I motor??? LIke whjat needs to be changed in order for it to work properly?

unless you want your check engine light all the time .. it would be less time consuming to just swap out the b7 mani for the z6 ... you would just need to get some different plugs for the sensors on the y8 mani / t/b .. and maybe some other things .. i dont know .. ive never run an obdII manifold on an ObdI motor

lol ok. The main reason i asked the damn question was Im running a Y8 IM on my d15. The dipshit that helped me swap my motor swapped out my origional manifold for the y8 because he said the fuel injection system wouldnt work properly for whatever reason. Is there any reason i shouldnt be able to throw the origional IM on with its injectors still in place??? I havent thrown any check engine lights running the Y8 IM....

why ask the question if you already have it on your damn motor ... ???? if your car is running fine .. just leave that shit on

I do have one other question tho, Since im useing the Y8 IM, im useing the y8 injectors also, is there anything that could go wrong because of this?? i know its a dumb question but i guess it doesnt hurt to ask.

thesqad127 can you post more incorrect info. I mean I occasionally get something wrong but you seem to have this need to reply to every question asked wether you know the answer or not.

If Honda has followed the same pattern it has since at least 1988 then the injectors between the Y7 and Y8 are probably the same. Checking part #'s will tell you for sure.

I "heard" Y7's run better with 2 plugs wires crossed.......either that or they are just plain SLOW.........

Here's your sign :)

Here is an honest response. i recently installed a y8 mani on my y7. the y8 mani was installed with the y8 injectors, after 2 days of driving, i had a CEL 45 (too rich or too lean malfunction in the fuel monitoring mechanism), islandercrx trouble shot my car one thing at a time so that we could deductively eliminate a single problem. It wasn't my o2, it wasn't my timing (he also installed a delta 260 and aem cam gear the same time as the mani), we put the y7 plugs back on, reset ecu and it hasn't come on in two days. i also feel more power and better response after the y7 plugs were put back on. i know that the injectors are supposedly the same as some people say between the y8's and y7's, but i believe that having solved the problem, the truth speaks for itself. try the y8 injectors on the d15, if there is no CEL then great, but if it comes back on, try going back to you stock injectors. i'm no pro or tech head, i just speak from recent experience. peace. :D

im just tellin yall what ive heard .. wether its right or not .. im not trying to prove anything .. i dont really care that much ... im just here to learn ... and i meant y7 injectors dont throw codes on y7 / y8 swaps ... everyone ive talked to has thrown a code using y8 injectors ... and when they switch back to y7s.. everything is cool

so which is better? z6 or y8. i just saw a dyno chart showing a z6 mani making more power stock than a y8 witha 60mm throttle body, drives me crazy because i just did the y8 swap with a b18c5 t.b. and now im seeing a z6 can make more, im confused as hell :?

I thought the D15b jdm was just a 1.5 E-vtec bottom end with a D16z6 head on it. so therefor D16z6 inlet manifold???
