I've yet to try either a Comp/ZEX or a Crower cam in my car.
The Crower Stage 3 build I helped on, we had to grind clearance in the oil valley on the head to clear the lobes.

I had a zex stage 2 cam in my car. It flattened out the lobes, "Ticked" loud as hell, and it also damaged my rocker arm assembly.
Props to zex.

Crower 2 is an amazing street sohc vtec cam. I was so enthralled with the performance of the cam, untuned, that I called Laurie @ Web, who did 2 cams for me previously and told her that the Crower 2 and possibly the Crower 3 are cams that they should study from...
BTW transzex; Brian Crower insist that there is no grinding necessary for the 3 cam to work on y8 or z6. He did hours and hours of R&D on every aspect of that cam and has never heard of such an issue. It's strange your experience was diff. I posted the conversation within another post on the board.

I could see it being the installers fault if the valve lash isn't corrct.

the zex cams are not billet cams. used to be way back in the day, but that changed a while back.
