i read about alot of different setups and varying ideas on how to make the most horsepower from a single-cam n/a engine. i would like to know who is making what kind of h/p and how are you squeezing out those ponies.

I just put my engine on dyno last week, it seems to put out 576whp. :D
2 possibles setups :
Chevrolet 454 single cam v8 lightly moded
or
d16y7 lightly moded too
- all remade with lightweight materiel like alu, carbon, titanium, wood
- airplaine fuel with lead (to pass emission test)
- Intercooler with no SC or turbo
- balanced everything up to 20 000 rpm
- oversised by 500% each hole that may exist on this engine
- Idle set to 3500 for street performance only
- Big lobbed cam and good valves spring
- high quality powersterring strap that handle 20 000rpm
- Castrol GTX High performance with walmart filter
- Octane booster solded by walmart too
- Sticker like TOYO tire under hood ;)
Kiddin' , One guy make out a lot of HP, called Bisimoto with d16a6 I think, with 4 mikuni carbs, engine remaded, and more than 450whp
this another guy made something good but turbo'd

Bisi's d-series was a d15b7 w/carbs and more mods than my brain can understand and made around 255whp.
Biggest and baddest n/a d-series that I've heard of around here would be builthatch's @162whp.
I saw a link a while back for a shop that got just over 180whp out of a d16, but it didn't look streetable.
Once I'm done, I'm hoping for mid 140s. We will see how it goes.

I hope to knock around 150-160 in the end out of a d16a6. I know it will not be streetable here in TX, but what do you mean by streetable?

probably a huge cam with a loping idle so bad ya cant stand it sitting at a stop light. Most high hp N/A engines are like this and require high octane gas (110 race gas or better, mmm the purple turpentine chit) due to the compression ratios of them. Hence...unstreetable for most and very inefficiant. Me well n/a around 90 or so hehe with the blower dunno 140-150ish.

Bisi had a D15B6 block and a cut/welded A6 crank.
140-145 whp is cake work with stock Honda parts, was done 4-5 years ago by HART team members.

Yup totally agree... we can do 140-145 without even touching the block. and still get 30mpg.

From Bisi article, He goes into 10sec with d15b7 !Sure more than 255whp to get into 10sec N/A car !
The B-series engine is the most popular chosen for competition in the All-Motor class. Since the inception of the IDRC All-Motor Class, Bisi has campaigned engines which were anything bust the popular choice.
Until this current season, Bisi's CRX used a D-series engine. That's right; that same D-series engine that comes from the factory in Civics but usually gets swapped out with a DOHC B-series engine. Bisi worked his voodoo and with the help of RS Machine coaxed enough horsepower out of the SOHC small-bore engine to join the elite 10-second club. Over time, Bisi's popularity grew in odd circles as he championed for the single-cam fans.

Not really. Remember he was in a stripped/shell/race-only crx chassis and he was also making an insane amount of torque with that setup on drag slicks. I believe that torque was int the 180 range.

F22 he was running in this pic was 2213 cc's, bored and destroked.
Now running a F18 which he didn't go into deeply, as it was still being built at RS.

Bisi went 11.2 with LS rods, then went 10.77 with custom ALUM. rods.

Lightweight rods can make quite a difference- I'm glad I ordered some for my GSR build...
