I don't have a clue about anything to do with audio ( :werd: ), and my girlfriend would like a.... what she called a "... boomin' sould system...." So I started to laugh at her, untill I found she was serious  . So could you guy help me out? First off I should tell you she drives a 01 Sunfire.
is all I know is that the door spearkers are 4x6 and the back are 6x9. How I know this is I made a little trip to bust buy. Which did help much because the guy helping me only said "... Alpine type R is good." So before I go spending $179 for these type R 6x9 is there anyone who could tell me they'll help her "boomin' sound system" out? Also if you would like to help with all the other stuff that I'm going to need I'll jump up and down and thank you :)

The Type R line by alpine is good, I used too sell them. They sound great for the price.. I would say go w/ them.. But I will tell you that the cost on those are about 80 dollars so dont let him fool you and say that is the best price they can give ya..

you got also get an alpine type R 10" sub in box to go along with her system....hey look, i have sitting right here, for...let's say 60 bux shipped?
and if you go that route, all you need to do is get bass blockers ($10 a set) and connect those to the current speakers and just use the sub...this should sound good enough for her.

i have alpine, all alpine...alpine alpine alpine...
alpines are great all around speakers...not top of the line in any field, but for the price you get great clarity, nice bass, great sound overall..."s" are a little slured, but who cares, the bass will fix that...

you need more than just 6 x 9's... and without an amp... you arent going to have a "booming system"... your best bet is to leave the stock interior speaker... buy jesus' 10" sub and get a relatively cheap amp to power it

my price range is somewhere in between $0-$500. I like the $0 part of the range better. She has said something about "wanting" all the same. I'm assumeing she means deck, speaker, and amp all the same brand? maybe? I looked for these alpine for about two weeks and so far everyone says they're pretty good. Of corse I haven't looked at anything else (because I don't know what in the hell I'm looking at), so if there is any oter good stuff out there could you share it? Thanks.

i work bust buy sellin car audio. alpine stuff is pretty much best quality for the price and i'm not just saying that. i listen to all diff brands all day. type r is good but i actually think the type s 6x9s have more base than the type rs. i say get good 4x6s and get the type s 6x9s and the little alpine 2 channel amp for the 6x9s. the power on that setup is matched perfectly. do that first and if its not enough bump get a 10 inch sub. next time your in bust buy have them amplify the type s 6x9s and you will see what i mean.

the type r 6x9 speakers are awsome ( i would reccommend a amp to them by the way they are a beefy speaker), anyway if she wants booming the type r 10 for 60 is really a good deal espically in a enclosure . or if you want new with warranty go get a comp vr which i s a very decent sub cheap reliable ... i have beaten the spider from the voice coil on one and it played like brand spankin new LOL ! get that and go get a nicer amp. for that comp vr amplifier wise somehting 100-300 rms its a efficient sub

I currently run 2 type r's in my car (12's) with a rockford fosgate amp driving them. The sound is absolutely amazing. I have a walmart alpine deck and 6x9's too and they have never treated me wrong. IMO you can't go wrong with alpine.

alpine subs have no balls. if you want bass i would go with kicker. i had 2 c12's running off 200 watts in my hatch. almost couldnt take the spl. i just diched my sony 6.5 inch 3 ways in favor of some alpine type-s and they are pretty mid-rangy. highs arnt clear and the bass just sucks. a friend of mine has a type-r sub on 600 watts, sounds great but just dosnt bump. from my experience go alpine for a sq system and kicker for some spl. or mix em. hope this helped

you have no idea on what your talkin about, and/or the alpines you heard were not installed correctly..
my 2 alpine type r 12's with a rockford 500.2 hit 149.6 in a sealed .8 cube each box..
with more power or a ported box they can be alot louder..
alpine type r subs rock, they can be very loud and have tight clear bass.. way better sound quality than kicker..
