Hi
I have stripped the base of my seats out in the back of my 93 eg civic and folded down the back rests so i have a totally flat base, which i want to build an ice install,i am going to cut mdf to size then have the whole install fibreglass but my questin is how can i help to secure them as their is bound to be someone who wants to steal them.I was thinking i could weld steel rods to each side of the car and put the larger part of the sub below the poles near the base of the car so even if they did gte in the car they wouldn't be able to pull the sub/s out as the larger part of the sub wouldn't fit through the poles (if you get what i mean).the subs i am getting are audiobahn so the top part is smaller than the actual speaker bottom bit

I was thinking also about connecting an electric current through the poles when i leave the car unnatended but i don't know if it would ruin the speakers,i(the poles arn't touching the speakers)
What do you all wreckon??
That was way too hard to read.
Electrifying the rods/poles? What voltage? DC becomes very uncomfortable around 30 volts. Aren't the rods welded to the car? Am I even answering the question?
What is an 'ice install'?

the rods will be welded to the car to stop anyone taking the subs as the larger part of the subs will be too wide to fit through the narrow gap that the poles make???
Electricity was just a joke but if it was possible it could be a laugh??

You can just bolt the boxes to the car.

that wouldn't stop them, they would rip the boxes out

the rods themselves would be enough to hold down the subs, provided that the rods aren't fragile or wobbly.
a better solution is this:
1) if you have an alarm system:
make wire contact with the sub and wire it to the alarm. if the subs get removed, then it will set off the alarm.
2) if you don't have an alarm system:
grab another 12v battery and custom make a metal frame to cover over the subs. then make it so that the metal frames will get heated up and get super hot like an iron or soldering iron tip when you are away from the car (like the ones used to iron your clothes). the theif will be forced to have to remove the metal frame to remove your subs, thus he will burn his hands if he touches the metal frame.

If you drill anything, check your work!!! Make sure you don't hit ANY lines, brakes, fuel or others. I've spoken to some "smart" people that managed to drill into their gas tank, and are still alive to talk about it.

ehow about... if you're worried about your shit getting jacked, don't get shit that you can't insure, if it gets jacked..!
seriously, if you want a good system, but you think it could get jacked, then maybe that means you don't need a big stand out system. go for a more subtle install. or have one that you can fab a cover for. you can use those locking hood locks to hold it down, so that only you can uncover it..

crooks will steal anything. even custom made music cdrs. insurance doesn't do shit. when/if you get the money (sometimes not even close to what you paid for your shit) back to cover the stolen good(s), chances are they'll come back and break into your car again, when u install your new subs again. you're basically just throwing away money to your insurance company. what you wanna do is secure it as best as you can. for example, like i did; just weld all the aftermarket products you buy to the car, so the theif can't remove them and place a bunch of well-hidden razor blades near your shit, so the theif will bleed himself to death.
i wont mention where i've placed my hidden razor blades. if your not careful, this could happen to you (this is my finger):

yes, i happen to slice a small portion of my index finger off. i got blood everywhere, and now i learned my lesson, and that, my friend is: to always remember where you hide your razor blades. never never make the same mistake twice, otherwise you'll lose another finger... lol.
