View Full Version : Small, cheap, light weight amp to power 4 speakers?

The topic really says it all.

First of all, I am looking for a nice and compact amp. Something that I could easily hide under my front passenger seat (EG Hatch).

The amp will only need to power four speakers. I think they are cheap Sony Xplod's or something. Sound quality is not really a factor, as the rest of the components in the car are shitty. I guess you could say that secondly, I want it to be cheap.

Thirdly, I would love for it to be light weight. This isn't required, but as I said, it would be a definite plus!

Any suggestions for a small, cheap, light weight amp?

Kind of wrong forum, but I will let go

I have an older rockford fosgate 4 channel that I am not using. I will find the power rating and possibly post up some pics later on.

MTX Thunder 4160 "rated" at 20x4, but was like 44x4 @ 12 volts on the birth certificate.

Civic4ges, on our local forum, most of the audio (even WTB) is kept in the audio forum.
My "offering" is allowed, but someone making a "For Sale" post has to goto to proper forum. We don't have a "WTB" forum though.

Just food for though.

I'd rather do an upgrade on the existing speakers first before putting an amp on the crappy ones........

How about one of those Blaupunkt amps with the plastic case. They're small, efficient, and I think not too pricey.

I'm not looking to increase sound quality, however that should be a nice side effect. I am not going to be running a deck. Just an iPod and speakers, which leaves me with the problem of powering said speakers. Insert amp here.

little Alpine 3522S 30x2, basically what came in early Vipers.

I'll get pics later tonight

I use an older Pioneer 4 channel and its under my drivers seat. Very small and compact, great sound plenty of power. I have always liked the price/quality of Pioneer.

Those are very similar to the one i'm using right now. Can't beat old-school tech.
