What do you know about these things, good or bad. Driving impressions and usability. Spare me the comments about the looks, I'm not concerned about that. How's the function?

Friend of mine just got one, he loves it. With the all wheel drive he was able to follow two ATVs down an ATV trail. idk, personally i think the ground clearance is a bit low for that sort of thing, but i guess it was mostly soft sand. Plastic interior is great for people with a busy lifestyle, easy to clean out. Personally my favorite feature is (as he described it) you can fold down the rear hatch and "zip on" the tent attachment and stick double mattress in the back.

(Also, idk what everyone whines about, i love how they look)

The car is incredibly functional. People don't really realize that by its outer looks. Its quirky outer demeanor directly translates to its inner functionality, comfort, and drivablilty. The ground clearance is a little low for serious off-roading (6.9"), but it's about the same as a Forester (7.5"), so you should be fine there. If you're willing to put up with the ridicule of driving one around town, deffinitely get one. :TU:

My GF has one and she loves it. I like it too. The seats are comfy, the interior is roomy, the rear seats are mounted higher than the front ones giving you a theater effect, and the rear seats fold up and out of the way for hauling stuff. I like the suicide doors and the rubbermaid interior too. The only thing that bugs me is that the rear passenger windows only flip out, not roll down. It has plenty of pep with the 160hp ivtec k20 mill. Its a very functional car.

True, forgot to mention the stadium-like seating. Is it not good for towing? w/ AWD i'd expect it to perform pretty well.

Thanks for the feedback!

We're going for the AWD model for wet weather traction reasons and you get that rear sunroof with it too. It's a shame that most are autos, but I'm trying to find a 5sp. Our boat is only 17 feet, so if it can't tow that, it shouldn't tow anything at all.

As far as being seen in it, no problem...window tint!

Thanks again.

shit...put a turbo on that engine, and take down anyone who opposes you...also, they are INCREDIBLY functional...

Well we bought the LX AWD 5speed. Manual is way better than the auto. We'll take it to the beach soon to see how well the drive works.

This thing is much quicker than one would expect. You definatly feel the vtec kick. Once the motor is broken in, I'll see how it stands up to the local rice.

I won't turbo it, it's my wifes car. It could use some sway bars or lower profile tires though.

I am a honda gold salesman. When these things first came out I thought that they were an ugly peice...honda was so secritive about them that the first ones came on coverd, tarped trucks. I have put the element through hell on the offroad course and it preformed awsome. The front mount sub has some good bass to it. The mp3 firewire on the dash is awsomke for the i-pod. all the floors are rubberized so, if your are carefull, you can hose the inside out if you get it muddy. Try looking at the tent attachment for an accesory if you like the outdoors its badass. cant beat the k20 under the hood. its very quiet for having all that plastic on it. rear removable sunroof is cool. 1500 pound towing compasity. on the ex you get the updated seat material that is supposed to be water resistant for a 4 seats. shit to much typing, any more questions pm me

just a note the lx is no longer available in the 5-speed

I think they have a very "classic" look to them. . .Like the paneled wagons you used to see in those 50's surfer movies. I don't think that those who'd like to tow with it will be very happy. . .But I've not ever heard anything negative about them except most are autos. This is what I drive in the winter and haulin around the pooch and other shite!!

Nissan XTerra w/a 3.1 liter V6 (K&N air intake and Calmini exhaust--some other things too. . .)

Here it is.

Cargo Khaki, 2005 LX AWD 5sp

K24A4: 2.4 liters.

Note the intake piping, convoluted as usual, must be Honda trademark. Also has FOUR cupholders, CRX owners can appreciate this.

For the salesman: AWD option gets you the sunroof and waterproof seats. 2005 LX is available with the 5 speed. Engine now K24.

we got the khaki one in our showroom right now. i honestly like the green one the best but for sure i'd rock one if i could afford a second new vehicle.

its probably the most versatile Honda vehicle next to the CRV that still drives and parks like a car.
