Not sure, but are you asking this because your audio setup is draining power from your car?

^^^2nd that....is this something that you're getting for free? Or are you under the impression that a B series alt is bigger than a D.........as far as I know, the alt fits, well at least it does on local ones........

i hate alternators... in general... just because mine sucks... but thats my fault for using underdrive pulleys in northern ohio...
night driving(lights) + snow/rain(wipers) + coldness(heat/defroster) = stalling at red lights- my solution: turn off wipers pop it in neutral and keep the rpm's up around 1500-2000 at lights... unfortunate side effect- ricers always want to race me... which is funny when i beat them... but eh...
nothing to do with the thread... besides that uhh... i included the word 'alternator' once... - wait- twice... i have ADD...

No you cannot use a B series altinator on a D series engine or vise versa.

Not sure where saranaz was going with this. But if he meant he needed a bigger alternator to compensate for bass hits, a good 1 or 2 farred cap would solve this...

Hell even Walmart is selling caps now, pretty cheap too... anyway, what about the harness that plugs into the alt? Are they the same for both?

Cap is less than 250 (100-200 depending on size), but thats a good idea, never heard of that.

A cap won't do you any good if your charging system can't already handle what you're throwing at it. Adding a cap to an already overtaxed system can seriously mess stuff up.
Think of it like one guy trying to keep two barrels full of water at the same time instead of a bucket. The guy won't be able to keep up for long.

yes a Cap is a band-aid for a car audio system it makes your lights not dim but keeps killing your alternator slowly anyhow. (like a band-aid just cuase you covered up your wound doesn't meat it's better)
Your best option is getting a higher output alternator and a good dry cell battery. This keeps your car audio running and your car. Would also recommend getting one of those battery saver things. It's purpose is to keep enough charge in your battery to start your car it will cut off your audio to maintain that.

Alumapro makes a 5 farad and a 15 farad cap that is much more cost effective the traditional caps. I can get anyone the 5 farad one for $280 and the 15 farad for $500 from my friends shop. He will probly go even lower than that on a group buy if any one was interested.

just buy a 150 amp alt. last i looked they are only around 150-200 smackers. but that was about year or so ago too.....
and if your going to do that much audio in your car, custom build another bracket and put two 150 amp alts on there, with that you'll never run out of juice...hehehe
