headunit: alpine 9835
front stage: dynaudio SYSTEM 240 MK II (7" woofer 1.1" soft dome tweeter)
Rear: some clarion 6" that came with the car (might even remove them)
Subs: 2 x Eclipse SW6102 (replacing at a later stage)
front stage amp: Zapco 350.2
Sub amp: Zapco 500.1
Amps are on the way and currently planning out a boot install that isn't going to weight too much as well as building custom pods up front for better imaging.

cooooooooool........I've had dynaudio 3 way splits before and they kicked some serious ass, pity they never sold them over here, so when they got stolen, I couldn't replace them. Throw weight savings out of the window, my civic took about 100 lbs of dynamat alone...........
Got some good gear there........takes time and some coin to buy that stuff....great choice in amps..........after I get my money sorted out, it's a genises amp...until then, my 550x RF amp will have to do.

the only downfall is deadening!! And i need to try my hand at fiberglassing. Will be interesting. But will be good to have done once so i know i can do it again :)
Yeap breaks the bank buying gear. But it's what i want so i don't mind too much. Just been doing it in stages.

Mmmmmm......Zapco. 8)
I saw some McIntosh amps the other day, a rare experience to say the least. The guy was putting some groceries into his car and I saw them on the back of the seats. My mouth hit the ground and I drug it all the way inside the store.

^^^ love the old mac gear.....................they make some of the best retro looking head units out there.............unfortunatly....shit expensive........
I am more for 50/50. I want insane bass, but I want it to be clear and sound killer. I like an equal mix of both. My accord is exactly that.
I built my friends neon up to hit 156db a couple years ago with some Cadence 15s. It was strictly a spl car. It was awesome that it could vibrate everything, but you couldnt listen to shit! The only cds you could listen to were bass mechanic cds! that sucked.

^^ yep. My 154db monster also did a 24/30 on the RTA meter. I like both sides of the spectrum so I did not vote. Wheres BOTH?!!
Cadence now theres something I havent heard in a long time. I used to run 2 15" Cadence Solo's on Blade amps. Remember those?

yeah, i'm with both of you guys. i love a THUMPING bass, but it can't be the only thing i hear, otherwise: why bother listening to it? I want to hear the vocals bounce through my head, while the hairs on my neck stick up from the bass. I love a sound system that sends shivers down your spine because it sounds so real

Im for both... i have also had both... 148db is enough bass for anyone. The setup im lookin for is my mb quarts all around with one good 12" woofer to top it off.... keep the highs soundin clean but still have some bump in the trunk!

I got out years ago, too many "bling bling" items. People were getting away from SQ and going for show points.
Atleast I got my picture in a magazine at the IASCA Finals :)
Then turned down a job at Mitek Corp @ 60k a year doing installs.
BTW Mitek Corp. = MTX :)

I'm forced into SQ, loud bass aggravates my inner ears something awful. Some kid's sub down the dorm knocked me down once when I had an inner ear infection, that hurt a LOT.

Blade amps. As I remember, they were black with a red stripe. Small, with good specs. I couldn't afford them at the time.

I'd take SQ over SPL anyday. A system that can be both loud when you want it to be, and crystal clear all the time would be a perfect setup. I'm still trying to decide on my new setup whether or not to go with 1 sub or 2.

Blade amps (all monoblock design) could be had in white also.

It's great to have two cars, both black civic's btw. You can have your cake and eat it too! 6 Orion Dual voice coil 10's and still putting more wattage to rattle my brain. Old skool S.P.L. baby til I die/ go deaf.

What I have now is a lot more spl than sq, however I've had a couple of people tell me that for the money spent and lack of accuracy in the bass it sounds remarkably good....now to a get sealed box made and see if it cleans things up some. I have been falling farther toward sq though....but I still like to feel that bass.....
