I work with some interesting very intelligent people..
And well we are all sick of the question "do you know how fast you were going"
Lets just say that a few of them are Very skilled in electronic warfare and Jamming and many other various skills..
He is creating a box that would be no bigger than a Standard Radar detector
It will either run off of a 9v battery or 12vDC...More than likely it would mount in any undisclosed location under the hood like in the front Urethane bumper...
It will apparently jam every single type of radar detection used by Police, and Walgreens....(nothing funnier when someone runs into a closed door lol)
If it is possible..and the cost is effective do you think anyone would use it?
Used old thrown out military "junk" can become effective against Annoying speed traps....
As long as your not the only car on the road...it technically be ok...
From what I know the FCC would be pissed off at this...but If you can get it and use it..why would it be wrong...as long as its controlled?

they are called radar jammers, already made, and can be bought...problem, they are illegal in like 40 of the 50 states, and if you get caught with one...well it ain't pretty. and yes the FCC doesn't like these things to much. usually when you by one it will come with a garaunti for the life of teh jamar to pay for all speeding tickets issued to you because of the cops using radar (i say this cause they're are other means of clocking someone), that and you can't be like going doub;e the speed limit, anyone can pick you off breaking the speed limit just by looking at you if you were doing duoble the speed.

do they work on laser? most of the cops in my area use laser so you don't know they're running traps until it's too late

it'll be illegal simply because it needs to be regulated by the FCC since it emits radio waves. not to mention the laws against radar jammers...
and yeah, it won't work against lasers, so it probably won't be worth it. Someone needs to design a paint for a car that will either absorb laser light or scatter it so much that the signal is too weak for the cop to read.

Why not pull a Liberace with your car.

lol...its been done. it was on mythbusters where they covered the car with mirrors and aluminum foil and it actually made the car more visible reflecting the waves and laser even better. they gotta come up with something though

problem with paint that absorbs light is that it probably absorbs a wide spectrum... not just red/infrared. If it can absorb UV, usually that light is high enough energy to cause a reaction.... aka, yellowing. Also you'd probably lose the shine on your car since you don't want light to reflect. It also needs to go on the license plate since usually the cops aim for that.
What would be nice is an EMP  ... knock out all electronics over a big area.... of course, you'd need to shield your own electronics then or else your car would die, too :p

i'm pretty sure they can only give you a "speeding" ticket if you have been radared or paced. they may write you up for other things just to be a prick, though!

Actually ive done a lot of Research on the Supposed Jammers..
They dont really work..the signal is very weak..
as for laser...My coworked is working with IR type leds..that emit a light that sends back a faulty signal to the laser detector...
Supposedly it willl work..That piano...that would work too in the back of the CRV..lol
Ok so a purchassed one is illegal and...how would they know its not like its in your window..this one just goes behind your front grille..

I'm working on it. lol
You ever see carbon nanotubes? They are BLACK, I mean BLACK. You can shine a real bright light on them and they dont reflect a damn bit...still look BLACK.
And they absorb strongly from the UV to IR wavelengths, so it just may work.
Only problem is $250/gram for the nanotubes.

maybe that paint they use on the stealth bombers? It absorbs all kinds of detection energies. Probably expensive though, and they give those planes all kinds of un-aerodynamic lines to diffuse the signals.
It be cheaper to just pay the speeding tickets. :)

Make a clear coat that refracts or reflects light at a different angle, away from the police's speed sensor. I think that it has been done, but it's super expensive and not available to the general public, probably for this reason. I remember a physics teacher from college talk about this concept when we were studying light reflection and refraction through translucent and transparent objects.

i wonder if i covered my car in enough clear coat if it would do this. hehe, wouldn't that be awesome to actually SEE a clearcoat shell on your car??

Mythbusters totally busted that, anyways i really doubt that anyone will be able to actually come up with a cost effective device or method that will actually do that.

what wavelength do cop lasers run at anyways? I'm not actually sure... I know they see the beam when they aim it at you, but it can't be too powerful so I doubt it's anything more than red/infrared.
I was thinking that rotory's idea might work... but then again, you'd need to send out so much infrared that your jammer would turn into a heater.
I want a device that shuts off cell phones. Aim and fire, no more conversation.

Basically I got the blueprints from them today...looks nice...
very detailed...lol
and idiot proof...
Research shows that radar guns..operate at a very low FQ only 20 watts total
From what I can read and he had to explain 7-39 times...
It sees the signal modifies it the sends it back 2 fold....which throws off the gun and it can read the signal...showing blank....
We are using an omnidirectional antenna on it..so it will sit behind the bumper
and only point forward (25-30 watts on 12 volts is some shit going thru your nuts...lol)
And as for laser guns..they all use this specific type of led that emits the light and read it back when it bounces back...
The infared leds on ours will blink faster than the human eye can reconize...but the light is IR so we can't see it....
Well thats all I have so far...yipee...

All you need is pennies...and a sunroof...that will do it..they will be off the phone in no time in the ditch or on the side of the road..
if you want to avoid being radared, paint your car flat black and lost the liscense plate in the front, its not that hard. The paint will not reflect and its not illegal. just dont be stupid and go 30 over to where you can tell by just looking at you.

That stealth bomber paint has a shit load of iron in it (read;rust-o-matic)
There is a laser "garage door opener" that already fkucs police laser and that bitch is available for legal sale.......hmmm. As far as a radar jammer, a couple of guys I was in the Navy with and I built a couple of those jammers you find schematics for on the internet and out of four one works and the power it emits is not really fun, like I would not walk in front of the car without metal boxers on. Think about this rotary there is a reason that ships aren't allowed to be running their radar in port, the radio waves (microwaves....like in your countertop burrito heater) are not good for people to be exposed to for long periods. So if you are going to be driving down city streets and the interstate blasting passers by with microwaves you are not very nice in my book. The FCC isn't merely trying to stop you from speeding, they do not allow jammers because of the fact that they are potentially unsafe for constant use. Most police departments aren't even using radar that much anymore because of calibration requirements besides laser or photo-radar is becoming more economical in addition to being more accurate in the first place. Tell your friends to just drive the speed limit on the street and they won't get tickets.

I don't know who makes it I saw them using it on that british show 'Fifth Gear', it is just a tiny led emitter that you mount behind the front grill that ran to a controller in the cab, if I remember correctly it cost close to three hundo bux(with conversion rate). Decev, I would honestly just say that google is your friend on this matter.
search for laser garage opener.
