B000 is good, big bearing case.
All EX/Si SOHC trannys are big bearing style.

Instead of being an ass, why don't you sack up and split the case. Enlighten Us.

omg.... you guys have soo much drama in your veins.
The A000 is a DX/LX the 4000/B000 is a EX/SI
Sometimes you can't tell, but if it's a 4000 and a JDM... Cable... I think it might be the JDM ZC
My JDM ZC trans was marked S20 on the barcode, and P23 / B000
So... some JDM trannys have the EX/SI code.
I think the only one with a master list to serial No -> Trans code -> stamp code; is....
Honda Motor Co.
transzex
11-05-2005, 07:34 AM
Honda themselves can't even figure it all out..........supposedly using the serial number you could tell which tranny you have....NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!
I've yet to mess with a JDM S20 tranny, therefore why I have not commented.

Sweet, so according to this (just walked to garage and checked barcode) I should have the JDM ZC tranny. I just thought I had the Si.

I was told that the JDM ZC tranny was the same gear ratios as a USDM Si... could be mistaken though

On the 88-91 EF trannys from what i have read(could be wrong) theres no way to ID them w/o cracking the case? I need another 90-91 Si tranny for rebuild and don't wanna get taken.

I can ID them with ease.

What should I look for? or are you counting the turns on the output shaft and the turns on the axle to get the final drive gear ratio like on a RWD?
I looked again at the tranny ID pages and found the stamp #'s by the oil fill hole. Not sure why I didn't see it the first time.

I've seen quite a bit D15B and ZC transmission, my buddy owns a jdm importing shop and got in 15 SOHC Motors (D15B, SOHC Vtec ZC and DOHC ZC). I checked majority of them (forgot to do DOHC ZC) and most of them had the S20/A000 which is code for the LX transmission, I couldnt understand why. Even the SOHC Vtec ZC had this transmission. If i can make a run back up there today or tomorrow, i will get pictures

Well, I wouldn't have if somebody would have put all the information in - he he - I've searched around the forum and found all of them, but there are a few discrepancies between each post, so I'm looking for a good answer for each and if there is a way to tell between years or whatever.

I got this much yesterday -
A000/A100 are DX/LX/HF/EX
3000/6000/9000/B000 are Si/ZC
Is there anything more specific?
I know dx and lx are the same practically, but the ex and hf are way different, how do you tell the difference between those when they only have a A000 or A100?

Hate to comment on an old thread, but I have a noob question that I'm sure alot of other noobs have too. How do you tell where first gear is in a tranny that's been pulled with no linkage attatched to it?

way to zombify a thread lol. s20 means its 92-95 tranny. look near the fill plug for a circular stamp with either A000 or B000 in it. then hit the search button and type that letter/number in. quick way to tell if your tranny is lsd is a drug test... but seriously if you can pull the axle and look into the tranny through the hole where the axle was, and see a round metal dowel looking pin going up and down thru it, then its not lsd. search search search search search search search search next time... its all here a thousand times over.
