Well looks as if I am going to take the plunge and go turbo. I am getting a TD04L turbo from '02 WRX. I have no experience w/ turbo whatsoever so I would appreciate yall helping me build my first turbo. Please excuse my noobieistic questions and bear with me. I fisrt need to know if anyone has any info about the TD04L? Also what kind of compression ratio should the engine have. I am considering a z6 bottom end and a y7 head. I plan on staying non-vtec. I do have a project that I am almost through with now -"Project Junkyard Dog". But I am concerned about the CR. It will be 9.8:1, is that too high of a CR to run w/ turbo? I want to do this right.
Thanks in advance
Dog

That compression ratio is kind of high-but it is manageable. Ideally should be looking at 8.5-9.0 c/r

Well I thought it over a bit last night. And What I came up with is:
a6 head
a6 head gasket
z6 block
y8 IM w/ H22a1 TB

That should keep me low enough. CR @ 8.8-9:1

What about fuel? isnt more fuel needed when running turbo? I have some OBD0 prelude inj's (260cc I think).

9.8:1 is fine. You just need to put a little effort into tuning. Personally if I were to go turbo, I would shoot for 10:1 with low-moderate boost.

remember low CR is used to compensate for poor tuning. Also, low CR will perform poorly before the turbo spools and lower CR will cause it to take longer for the turbo to spool.
