I've recently bought my first house and I'm really wanting to paint the floors in the garage. I'd like to paint them white, but I've heard that the floor will yellow in the sunlight. Has anyone else painted their floors? If so what paint/epoxy did you use and what process (sandblast, acid etch, etc.)?

how about you just seal the floor and call it a day. Paint never seems to work well on floors made out of porus substances.

it depends. my basement has held up quite well. you just have to do it the right way

Your basement also has a vapor barrier under it+a french drain system, and possiably foam board insulation. A normal garage lacks that so the moisture from the soil will eventuailly seep through the floor, and bubble the paint.

this is a great idea, also, there is a procedure out there that uses the stuff they coat truck beds with, rhino lining type material, that is impervious to everything. It is available in tons of colors, is a bit of a cushion so if you drop stuff on it it will not marr the object like dropping it on concrete, nad it's sound deadening as well. The downside is, it is super expensive. That is something i will be considering, however, for now, i used Behr epoxy

..the stuff with the speckles in it seems to create a better surface tension or something; the bits hold it together better and it also doesnt highlight dirt and debris like a one color floor would.

I never even thought about that. I'll have to check into it.

To me, you have to have a proper place to work. It sucks working in a poorly laid out and designed workspace, IE garage. Some are more serious than others, like I would simply seal it and make sure it drains properly, then just keep it clean. It's all what makes you work space work better for you.
I didn't know it was this serious either, but whatever gets the job done.
Good info, I have a feeling that DIY site will make it into my favorites.

I sure will. I looked into the snap together tile and decided to veto that plan for one simple reason. All of them are textured. It seems it would be a little hard to roll a creeper around on a floor like that. Decided to go with the epoxy. Might not be as durable, but it will be smooth. Now I just have to wait for it to get warmer to do it.
Thanks for all the input.
