exospeed, Do you do cams for the D16A1? If so, are they on your site or do I have to e-mail exospeed for further info?

what kind of gains are you talking about with these compared to the jun regrines.....dohc zc motor....

Well, let me explain the problems with my D series motor. It is after all a D16A1 Integra DOHC often misnamed as a ZC which it is not.
The cams are different in that the number of teeth on the cam gears are different than the JDM ZC as well as the size of the crank pulley as they are matched. If you want to swap you must swap not only cams but cam gears and crank pulley. The timing belts are also different sizes.
I don't know about the jun regrinds as I have not enquired. I suspect that they also may not have a standard cam replacement for my engine. The Teg engines are the black sheep of the D series as they are not as well supported in the aftermarket. That is why I am trying to get the facts as accurate as I can.

heck yeah i'm using he dohc zc camshafts! i post on honda-tech all the time, i think i've sold a few sets for you dudes! i LOVE my cams, with the little bit of head work i've got(milled.022, cometic gasket, mild port cleanup), the exospeed stage 2's pull SO much more than the factory, and its un-tuned, will be fully dyno'd as soon as winter breaks here in michigan....thumbs up for exospeed and GREAT product for the jdm dohc zc guys.......if you have the time to have your car down or have a spare set of zc cams(i have some, anyone interested?), get these cams, you'll LOVE them.. i promise. i paired mine with srr bseries cam gears for tuning purposes, which work perfect for the zc, offset is fine. thanks for the great product and customer service wil-adam jabaay

Kablammyman, Just make sure he has been using them in a D16A1, it may not be the case. I was going to ask earlier and reread the posts and thought he may have been talking about a Civic ZC.
I say that only because the topic started with the use of exospeed DOHC ZC cams and as you now know they don't make any for our teg.

Our ZC specs are only good for JDM DOHC ZC camshafts. the specs wont work on D16A1 Cores.
Any other questions.. feel free to email me.
ZC cams can be used in D16A1's, however you've got to have adjustable cam gears in order to install the cams "straight up".
Install the ZC cams just like A1 cams using the dowel holes to set them at zero. Adjust the cam gears to suit the cams.
I have ZC cams in my D16A1, this is what the gear setting looks like with the cams at "zero":
The A1 head has been milled .007" and the block decked .030".

ZC cams have roughly .040" more lift than any D16A1 cams which is why the A1 cams won't work as cores for the ZC spec. regrind.

Question for TJ and exospeed??
The following is off of the JG engine dynamics site for cams. One of the few that have cams for the D16A1. From the discussion above I would hope that either of you could enlighten me(a dummy on cam info)as to the value of going to a ZC cam core vs a std cam for a regrind or new cam for that matter.
You will have to space the info below in your head as it does not post the same as in the reply box.
Lift in/ex Dur in/ex Lash
Acura Integra DOHC 391/366 250/250 .007 / .009 good idle / torque
86-89 D16A1 1600cc 408/408 258/258 .007 / .009 midrange hp
Honda JDM ZC 410/390 260/254 .007 / .009 mid to top
Honda JDM ZC 417/408 274/260 .007 / .009 top end power
I would be inclined to go with the 408/408 258/258 version only because this engine is going into an Austin Mini and I don't plan to race but would like a bit better performance. Comments?
Exospeed-As TJ says the ZC will work in the A1 with cam gears and I know how they can be adapted to work, therefore how does your ZC cam compare to the above specs and what would be your advice to me?
PS. TJ your picture did not post unless the site is down as I can't get on the site today either.

uhh,....one thing....does exospeed.com make any cams for the SOHC ZC VTEC...yes yes i know everyone only thinks theres a DOHC zc...but i bought a sohc zc vtec which no one believes exists. now does exospeed make a badass cam with topend gains with a "not-so-bad" idle?

You'll have to check on their site! And why wouldn't there be A SOHC ZC?http://www.exospeed.com/

the sohc zc vtec is basically similar to a d16z6 or d16y8..camsfor those motors should bolt right in. its such a rare engine (vtec zc) that nobody lists parts for them, but they all have them, its just a regular single cammer.

We have specs for the SOHC ZC/D16a6. but not the SOHC ZC VTEC.

Yo Wil, the SOHC ZC VTEC is basically the D16Z6 so yeah you do have something for it
