Check the oil while the engine is at normal temp.
Remove the oil fill plug from the side of the tranny, i think its a 14 or 15 mm bolt.
Stick yer finger in there, the oil level should be right up to the bottom of the filler hole.
If its low just add some 10w30 motor oil til it starts to dribble out the fill hole.
replace the crush washer and tourque it down to 33lb-ft

I always use 10w40 if i don't use Synchro Gear Mesh from GM. And if the filler plug isn't a 14mm or 15mm nut. it will be a 7.5 Allen/Hex head.

If i changed the fluid, what's best to go in there? It probably could use it, and in the manual it says only use Honda manual tranny fluid (go figure, more buxx for them), but motor oil in an emergency...

i only use honda...there was some crap in it when i bought the car, and as soon as i changed it to honda mtf= :D
its only 3.12 at my local honda dealer and you only need 2 quarts so for 6 bucks you can do it the right way

ehhh... drain plug is a basic 3/8" ratchet (square) and the filler plug/level inspection plug is a 17mm :)

You are actually using what i use, but technically your supposed to use the filler plug towards the side of the tranny. But i realized the top one works just as good.

I use only Honda tranny fluid, I used some different gear oil a year or two back and it was extremely thick during the winter when it would get really cold outside

Go to your local General Motors Dealership. and pick up 2 quarts of GM Synchro Gear Mesh. It is the best stuff to get man.

I'm running Redline MTL and so far its working great. Its not a night and day difference but well worth the $9.50/qt. I got a used SI trans and it grinds terribly in all gears so I thought ahh wth why not cant hurt. No more grinds...well not completely no more but much much improvement. I would have went with gm syncro mesh but we were out of stock, or honda mtf but its too far out of my way sooooooo I went with Redline from a nearby performance shop and they delivered it!! I would highly reccomend it if you feel like forking out 20 bucks.
