Its the command you use after you put the boot disk in, and restart the computer. You need to type in a command, and I can't remember what it is.
My cousin downloaded a nasty virus, so I am erasing my hard rive, and starting over.

if it's a boot disk the computer should boot up with just the disk in when you start it up - unless the boot sequence is off and the bios setup needs to be switched so the bios tries to boot from disk before the hard drive... to get to your bios setup its either F2 or Del but it should tell you when the first screen comes up...

fucking can't remember right...but try /fdisk
boot sequence shouldn't really matter unless something is seriously screwed up. and besides if it doesn't initially boot up from floppy it'll eventually scan through it as a POST.

/fdisk if you are trying to partition your HD. judging from you having to do this the manual way you must have an older computer? get a new comp stick in xp cd, press play, be done.

when you start-up during POST your comp should be scanning and will come up with a "Non-system disk or disk error....Replace and strike any key when ready...Disk boot failure" that's if your disk is not bootable. if you're using dos i believe you have to use the A:/ command

What OS did you have before? If you are gonna reformat and reinstall Windows, then just pop in teh CD and boot off of that to get into Windows Setup.

My dad trained me right, made me work on DOS, then Windows 3.1, then Win95, Win98, Me, XP...
memmaker was my favorite program, let me play lots of games :), then there was edit autoexec.bat and config.sys cuz the darned sound card never installed right
Until I went to school and had to learn Unix, that's just a messed up way of doing things
