what was 135 hp (118 whp) has been improved a bit........
Took my old D15B7 with CRX cam and Z6 intake........allowed Ryan (D-Blocked) to port the head (pics have been listed before) then added a Gude ported Z6 intake manifold and bored thorttle body.
Ryan rode with me during first test drive. Mine you I was using a my STOCK DX exhaust manifold and cat (so quiet at idle!) and P28 ECU with the chip that got 44 mpg in the Z6, using same DX tranny.
First hard pull in first gear, 5000 to 6800 revlimiter was right NOW. After a few pulls we come to a nice traffic light, all I could say was "WOW!"........
My little D15 impressed the shit out of me, enough that all ZEX parts will likely be sold soon.
Did I mention the stock exhaust manifold and cat?????? WTF will this BEAST do when ALLOWED to breath?????????
With a Exospeed cam????????
New goal, 13.99 on a NA D15, screw nitrous.
Also with the highway tranny I wanna get 50 mpg with current setup.
I will have my cake and eat it TOO!!!!!!!

do you have any links to the pics of the head or should i search on H-T???
sounds like fun, is that on a stock bottom end or did you do the d15 long rod???
plan to keep the dx tranny??? or is this just the current setup???

The DX tranny just for now. Being jobless = need MPG!!!!!!! One of my close ratio gearboxes will go in with a OBX diff in the spring.
The short block is BONE STOCK with about 130,000 miles on it. I only cleaned the piston tops.
The head........pics were posted awhile back on sohchonda.com

Well, I took it out for a long drive after filling up the tank.........
2800-2900 rpm, 65-68 mph, 118 miles later gas gauge hasn't moved yet.
500 miles to a tank of gas is my prediction.
Yes, you can have 145 hp D15 and get 50 mpg too!!!!!

The engine lift.........

I love the engine hoist. Thats the setup we had for a while in a friends garage, the come-along and straps.
Glad to hear the b7 is rocking that hard. That motor + the OBX + radials/slicks should take you to 13.9 pretty easily.
Wil at Exospeed should be able to hook you up pretty well on a cam.

damn, sounds like a nice setup. :TU: for the engine hoist

Nice job with the b7!! Great thread, and I like the hoist. Looks like mine.

ill race you to the goal :) ill be dissapointed if the gutted d16 crx gets owned by eg with the d15beast7.....im close though ran a 14.2 withonly 14 degrees of timing and next time i wont lift...goodluck hope you make it to the 13's...
good luck.......keep us posted

very ghetto engine hoist.......we didn't even have one.........we just used brute force. If I did that shit at my place, it probably would have pulled the roof down.

p28 ecu works on a non-vtec motor? what kind of chip do you have?

11-25-2004, 07:19 PM
what chip you want???????
Stock, Jun, Mugen, XS, Locash.........

Why would you want to run the vtec ecu over non? in a non-vtec engine

damn nice, 145 hp and 500 miles per tank  thats nice :TU:interesting; getting more mpg than a stock powerplant designed with fuel economy in mind (stock b7; 35-41 highway, manual), but making 40 some more hp...which obviously requires more fuel...
you'd think a stock honda would be the epitome of efficiency.

Why would you want to run the vtec ecu over non? in a non-vtec engine
1) 300 rpm higher fuel cut, 6500 vs. 6800 with CEL 22
2) no speed limiter
3) P06 ecu out getting chipped

do you use a wideband to tune your fuel settings? just curious ...
i'm thinking you've got the fuel values tuned leaner than stock to get that high mpg.
retarding it a bit more than usual perhaps? this is very odd... will your catalyst melt? hmmm...

what do you get form P&P like top end or bottom end and what kinda numbers? for a A6?

I want that kinda gas mileage. :( I'm getting 22mpg, ~220 miles on a tank, driving it almost to empty.
transzex
12-22-2004, 04:02 PM
My car has yet to be wideband tuned, just my oldschool (V8) knowledge. Right now the A6 cam is 1/2 tooth retarded and once cam is dialed in correctly with a adjustablbe cam gear, I fully expect mileage to jump from 43 mpg highway to 47-48 mpg highway. Then I'd only need 10.5 gallons or so (11.9 gallon tank) to get my 500 miles per tank goal. With the cold weather, it's not gonna happen till March or so due to the warm up times of the engine.
93sohcvtec, shitcan the skunk2 program as it is for a high compression LS/GSR motor and has no place on a SOHC tune.

12-22-2004, 04:14 PM
what do you have your fuel pressure set to???
transzex
12-22-2004, 04:25 PM
I guess about 40 psi, vacuum line on at idle.
ECU will adjust injector pulse width though thru short term/long term fuel tables.

Is there another program that you would recommend?
I had figured as much as far as what kinda engine it was meant for... But it runs sooo much better and has a lot more power with this program. :(

you sure it has more power????????
You dynoed it right?????

then you need 2 start learning 2 drive ;)
my D16Z6 95 HB with the lot.. runs with me behind the wheel (fast) 281 miles on like 35-38 liter benzo .. with the lady behind it.. 350 miles on like 38 liters... min. i think 35-38 MPG ?? when shes driving and like 28-32 MPG with me behind..

It's my skunk2 ecu. It runs rich as all hell, but it's got a crapload of power for not being custom tuned, 100X better than stock... I just need to get on a dyno and tune it properly... Or get my friend to stick his wideband on it.

kill the $5 skuckass chip, get a real SOHC chip.

It's just a simple program on a flash rom chip that I had thrown on there when I got the new ECU. I just need to get the chip reprogrammed. The problem is that the place that I had program the first one has gone out of business, so I need to track down the owner. He has a wideband o2 and crap so he can make a chip designed for my engine. It won't be dyno tuning, but it will be pretty damn close.

nice number trans, i don't think i'll ever see those numbers, hell i'm lucky to see 30+ MPG (lots of highway, and doing 65-70MPH = 3500+ RPM) this tranny is NOT effieceint at all.
