I was wondering if the EX/Si final drive will fit in the CX tranny. I have a Z6 with CX tranny and am planning to run boost. If there are any better tranny setups please tell me. thanks

Im sure it would fit...Here is the complete specs for the CX tranny.
CX /VX
1st-----3.250
2nd-----1.761
3rd-----1.066
4th-----0.853
5th-----0.702
Final Drive---3.250
The question i ask you is WHY? Id run the SI/EX tranny with a turbo setup ANY DAY. Turst me its gonna be better. The CX is just too long for any car. I run a ZC Hydro (s20) tranny on my turbo setup and i love it. Ive run a DX tranny before and it just sucks. Takes FOREVER to get into the powerband.
That whole "you need long gears in turbo cars" is a myth.

Thanks for the info. I will probably end up going with the y8 tranny.

Use the CX 5th gear in the EX/SI or y8 trans. I'm kicking myself for not doing this. I just swapped in an SI tranny and 5th gear is way too short for my taste. 1-4 kicks ass HUGE difference but I do alot of highway driving and the revs are just way too high. On my old CX trans at 70mph I'd be sittin around 2600 rpm. Now with the SI I'm at about 3300-3600 rpm on the highway.

i'm glad that you finally got a good trans in there. you owe me a ride now that you got a good trans in her. don't forget that even by putting in the cx 5th gear that you're rpm is still going to be higher than it was before cause now you have a different final drive. i will be pulling my cx trans aprt soon to gather all the syncros out of it and put them into my y8 trans.

Hey gimme a call at work tomorrow. I'll buy ya lunch lol. I didnt really get a good chance to hammer on it cause the roads were still wet and slippery :( spun 1-2-3 hah!! 5th gear does pull hard though. Before, I always had to downshift to either 3rd or 4th to pass on the highway. No more of that BS!! On pmb crusin at 45 I'd downshift to 2nd. 3rd works great I love the gearing. RPM drop is so minimal compared to both the pos DX and pos CX trans. My boost used to drop to 4 psi due to the rpm drop but now its steady at 6 psi and climbs real fast :) Lovin it...Gotta take it back out again though needs an input shaft bearing BAD and my throw out bearing was goin bad too and the one that came with it was shot to hell. I had it apart on the bench but I'm too broke right now to put new parts in. I knew it felt bad as well as the output bearings. Syncros looked decent and there was almost no wear on the spiders or diff pin. Damn thing had water in it so I had to tear it down. No biggy I'm gettin these tranny swaps down to a science. Slapped it in on my lunch break took me 55 minutes total out the door :)
uh oh..

thanks for letting me drive your car. that shit is bad ass. and yeah that bearing is super loud, but not as loud as that fart can :D . gotta love that supercharger. i really like how hard the car pulls. i hope mine does that good with those pm7 pistons in there. congrats on the new trans.
