Ok, the passenger side front suspension makes a popping noise over *some* bumps. When it is rainy and wet out it very rarely makes the popping noise. I took a look at the tie rod and all the bushings and they *look* ok. I'm thinking I need a new shock (FYI no lowering springs or anything aftermarket).

Anyone else have a similar problem or have heard anything like this?

Thanks a lot for your input.

Popping? Not clunking?

Definently sounds like a popping, almost a noise like you can make with your mouth, you know, the one 'The Monkees' make. And its not when you turn the wheel.

After listening to it again tonight, I guess you could call it a clunking. I described more of a popping because it was a quick clunk. Sounds are hard to explain over the internet in typing.

K.I.S.S.

are all the mounting bolts on the strut tight?
Are all the lug nuts tight?
hit any curbs lately?
CV boots torn?

other than that, I dunno.....

I had a squeeeeeeeeeeeeeek that ended up being the upper ball joint.

my car made a sound like that and it was caused by the oil draining out of the shock from a small pinhole. that sucked!

my car made that noise to and i had them replace the upper control arm since you cant just replace the balljoint by it self on 96+ cars i guess. the noise went away but now its makin it on the other side, to bad my warranty is over now i have to pay for it. try putting the car on jack stands in the front and take the tire off and hit the upper control arm and other suspension parts with a big RUBBER hammer. dont use a regular hammer cause well you know why, just use the rubber one... thats how we found the noise in my car.

Check the ball joints, and axles. Hell even check out the brakes.

when i got my car back from the body shop i had all sorts of clunks from the front end one was the left caliper bolts were loose and one was missing so that was flapping in the breeeze . and the other clunk was from the bolt that holds the strut from the bottom to the control arm so just check all the bolts underneith they may look tight but doesnt mean they are tight
