Um just thinking here....of you get your head chopped .050" or whatever to raise compression will your timing belt still be tight. And while we're at it, whats a good amount to shave it to raise compression and what will it raise it to?

the head on my car is milled .060 and the belt is not at tight as it is with a stock head, i have to pull the tensioner with a hanger every time i removed.milling a z6 head .050 will give you a 10:2 cr, and you will have to retard the cam timing to make the car run fine. :D

I dont know about .50 mill.........you should never go over .40 or past the indicators on the head. Mine is milled .30 and it is hard to adjust valve clearance when your timing belt has slack on it..........

Correct me if I'm wrong, but arn't you suppose to advance the timing when you mill a head.

i am going to be running a d16z6 with 13.0 compression. what should i do about cam timing? i will be running 93 octance during the week and probly some cam2 on the weekends or whatever race fuel is avail. around here. i also will be running a p08 ecu with a p30 program on it.

you will have to have that motor dialed in in every way in order to run a car with that much comp. ratio with 93 oct. with out having problems. if the head is not miiled the cam timing does not suffer from raising the comp. ratio :D

i'm not sure what you mean by this. i won't need to buy a cam gear to run my car with this much compression? i just put it back together like it was stock?

by this "you will have to have that motor dialed in in every way"
i mean that you will have to fine tune the fuel and ignition curves to make the car stretable on 93 oct. gasoline. i think this 13.0 comp. is too much for a street car is better if you go to 11.5 for street use ,so you do not hurt your motor.the octane level on the gas should be at least 93 to run fine with this much c. r. :D
