does anyone know if it is possible or feasible to attempt to retrofit a cable actuation system onto a 1995 currently hydraulic actuated ex transmission. Heres the dilemma, i have a 1990 civic hatchback w/ the stock d15b2 kickin around in there w/ only 40k on the odometer. I just purchased a 95 civic ex 2 dr w/ frame damage for 500$ and stripped it. Ive read that you can swap any d series tranny into any d series block, but i dont want to kill the swap w/ a stock transmission and tall gears not designed for the 7200 stock redline of the d16z6. So instead of sourcing a d16a6 si cable transmission, im wondering if between the two transmissions there is enough interchangable parts that I could make the 95 a cable actuated clutch transmission. I think this would be easier than to run the hydraulic lines that would be required to do this in the other direction, modify the car to accept the hydraulics, that would require a new clutch pedal attatched to a resevoir and all the lines, no thanx, so if theres anyone that has any ideas, send em my way, thanx for the help

personally, i would sell off the old motor ($200) and the ex tranny ($100) and use that $300 to buy a new clutch, resurface the flywheel and buy an si tranny. if you have a dx, the si only has a better final, so maybe you could just look for a final and have it installed. but i would rather buy a full si. you're just going to make it hard on yourself by doing the cable to hydro conversion. call up hasport and ask them about a conversion kit if you want, but my opinion stands.

i dont know about switching the internals between the transmissions but i think its possible but i know that the dx tranny bolts up and does ok i have a 90 civic si with the d16z6 and a dx tranny in it cause the si trannys are getting hard to find here it hangs with my 93 ex coupe just fine the dx tranny dosent do to good with drag racing and high rpm launches though but i think that the internals will switch ill find out soon cause i just broke that tranny that i had

you could do what he said. i had a 91 Si with a Z6; the 91 cable tranny bolts up to it, except for the lower flywheel cover i think. it rocks.
