What would be the pros/cons of doing this type of swap? Since the Vitara pistons are not reccomended in a Zc and pistons/rod combos are upwaerds of $600, I was just looking into other possibilities.

I don't know to much about the zc but it would give a low c/r which would be good for some boost if that was the way your going. I'm sure someone here can help you more than i can.

Well I just took the pistons out of my A6 block and they don't have the dome as my Zc pistons. The A6 rods are waayyy skinny though! I'll prolly use those pistons with my Zc rods and rebuild the motor.

Not too much you can do. Putting the A6 pistons in there will yield a comp ratio of about 8.25. Which absolutly blows, even with a turbo application. I have yet to see fat ZC rods. ZC rods are identical to the A6 rods(pm6). If your going to turbo leave the stock ZC pistons in there. If your going for N/A then deck the block and shave the head. There's alot of extra material there. That could give you a decent bump in Compression

I have already turboed the motor. I blew up thats why I was considering the Vitara pistons but someone told me that compression on that motor with those pistons will be too low. It seems like its only the head gasket that went cause I overheated. There was no loud bang or metal scraping when it went, or even when I was doing a compression test but I didn't like the way the #3 piston looked (see below) so I'm looking at other alternatives without the high cost.

That looks like carbon buildup on the piston. Most people blow ZC motors for one of two reasons. They over rev them or they run some hacked fuel manegment system. You can get your ECU chipped and run TurboEdit for less than $200, and thats if you pay someone else to do the work for you. If you socket your own ECU you can cut that price almost in half. And remember that includes a chip burner so you can change your ECU anytime you upgrade your setup. You may want to buy a wideband for tuning, that is going to cost you another $300 but you may be able to get a few guys to get together on one and share it. You only need it to tune, you don't need it in the car all the time.

It's not carbon buildup. You should read this http://www.d-series.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3123. It's in archives now so pics may not come up. I run TE now and I have a Moates burner. After the rebuild I gonna spring for the wideband from Innovative or let Xenocron from HMT tune it for me.

I run TE now and I have a Moates burner.which burner did you get? I want to pick one up but not sure on what model. If you have a part number that would be great. :)

spiceisler, Is this engine in the Mini in the Avatar or in a real Honda? JSHey Strudel,

This engine is in my '90 Civic Si. The particular car in the Avatar is from http://www.racetec.net/ in PA. They made a rear/mig engine conversion for the Mini. I saw them at the SEMA show in Atlantic City, NJ.
