yea i understand that.... there is not much difference between coilovers and cut springs....cept the adjustments.

well the thing is with coilovers you get the same spring rates at both sides of the suspension vs cutting them will yeild different spring rates at each spring since you couldn't cut them perfectdly the same...also with the right damper the coilover will ride better than cut springs....

uh.........huh?
Ummmmmmm I'm not sure if you could be more wrong.
A true coilover is a shock and spring that have been built to work together. The spring rate is properly matched to the tuning of the shock. The will give you the best of both handling and comfort possible when used in the proper range.
Cutting your springs results in having (usually) progressive spring that is missing coils. Because of this it will not have proper progressive movement as designed by the engineers. Not only that, but unless you are replacing your shocks with a proper shortened shock meant to work at a lowered height, your going to get a crappy ride.
People seem to have this Idea that a bouncy ride is due to springs. The real problem is whatever shock they are using is not controlling the spring moment. Shocks are just as important if not more so than springs. With out proper shock tuning, your car will ride like crap no matter what.
So no, Cutting your springs is NOTHING like having coilovers. Cutting your springs is something like having a sleeve over system in the car (garbage) but at least the sleeve over system is providing you with a new spring, instead of some cut and worn piece.

ghetto is right. and ditto on what zc man said bout the shocks. i have been in cars with cut springs that ride better than my progress/agx's. but he had custom shocks from the previous owner. bottom line is, dont cut your springs, it could never be right. btw springs usually are made by spring rate, not number of coils... what i am saying is: just because you cut exactly 1 coil off each spring, does not mean it will sit evenly. besides, it wont seat properly in the shock, and it's ghetto. :fairies:

yea I dont know how you can think coilovers are the same as cut springs ??
that doesnt make sense to me .... dont you think there is a reason racecars use full coilover setups ???
