reverse light sensor

when i installed my new tranny the wires coming from the reverse sensor came off, so i'm trying to figure out which would be easier:

moving the car near an outlet and soldering the wires back on

or

replacing the sensor on the new tranny with the one on the old tranny.

my question is can the second one even be done?

they should both be the same all its just a ground switch
