What are the best mods i can do to my ZC? I am gettign one put in my 89 civic hatchback this weekend. How do ZCs work with turbo? or is all motor a better way to go? thanks

ZCs and turbos work...go here to see what I mean: http://homemadeturbo.com/

if you go the N/A route...a header with a Hi-flow cat is an excellent addition :D (of coruse a CAI and other bolt ons help too  )

i would highly recomend exospeed's reground camshafts, great stuff. that along with bolt on's would make a fun little car.

Best bang for your buck by far is the JUN cam gears. They help with the timing and make stupid gobs of power! Also play with your fuel pressure a little bit by a regulator and play around with it until you get it right wher YOU want it. And yes the ZC is a great motor to boost on. Safely 6.5-7lbs is great you will definetly appreciate the gains.

with reground cams, they take material "away" from the base circle of the cam(the part that ISNT lifting, the part where the valve is closed). this effectively makes the normal lobe higher lift after you re-adjust your valves to normal specs(you adjust valves up to the base circle of the cam). exospeed seems to have done a great job with my cams, excellent customer service also. big thumbs up. exospeed.com

I have a 91 hb with zc motor and si tranny with basic bolt ons intake, header, exhaust, fpr, and clutch it ran 15.3....I put in a lightened flywheel and boy it woke that car up a whole lot. most def.get a lightened flywheel you won't regret the purchase

Does the lightened flywheel just allow the motor to rev up faster, or does it actually free up horsepower? Or both? Tell me more.

I guess it's a little of both...with a lightened flywheel it's less mass you have to get moving so it allows the motor to get up into the rpms alot faster so it makes the motor get going faster which makes the car go faster in less time than if it had the stock 17.7lb. So I believe it frees up power also

A little physics and you will see. Basically it takes existing HP from the flywheel and puts it to the wheels. It does make your engine rev faster as well. It sucks to start out though because the lighter flywheel has no inertia.

Bah who needs inertia

Would it still be ok for everyday driving or is it something im gonna want to avoid if its my only car?

Boost a D16A1/ZC and just try to keep a smile off of your face. You can't.

It's fine for daily driven cars. don't boost it. na all the way...nos and turbos are for little girls. nah turbos are fun but I preffer the challenge of all motor
14.5@103 b16=aem cold air,jdm type r header,cheap 200 dollar catback,p28 chipped with a spoon program,type r pressure plate w/ act 4puck unsprung disk,15" gsr wheel with falken tires spinning through 3rd
I know 14.5 is not the best but 103mph is a mid 13 second timeslip on all motor.
