I recently had my car inspected and have found that I need to replace my rear struts. Well if im going to do 2, I might as well do 4, and since im doing them all, might as well give my civ' a sligh drop and a little better handling.
Anyone have any recommendations for what kind of spring and struts to upgrade to. I am looking to do this quickly so I am on a somewhat tight budget. I have been looking at Tein tech-s springs, they give a slight drop, but for the price, are wondering if they are worth it.
As far as struts go, I have checked out pricing on a few different types. KYB GR2's seem to be the cheapest, but I have heard they are nothing more than a high priced oem replacement. Anyone have any recommendations here. Im looking at a max of 100 per strut.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I drive my car 40 miles one way to work, and am sweating daily with no legal inspection.

What kind of car is it? What are you looking for as far as performance goes? Does it ever go to the track ect ect?
For an alright handling spring/shock combo, you cant go wrong with Koni Yellows and H&R Race. Probally the best cheaper setup you can get into that handles alright without looking into somthing like a coilover.

I have a set of GR-2s on my CRX with a 2 inch (about) drop, and they actually ride pretty well. GR-2s are supposed to be valved about 15% stiffer than the factory shocks. I bought a full set of 4 for $158 shipped at shox.com. The Tire Rack will give you similar pricing too.

I got my GR-2's from shox.com also and mine blew within 6 months. Well, the back two anyway. I now have Tokico blues on it and love them!

I guess we'll just have to see what happens then. It's been almost 6 months for me, and my GR-2s are still working great.

That's what I'm going to do next as well, KYB AGX's. They seem to be a pretty popular shock, pretty good for the price.

Well, I have a set of KYB AGX's on my 95 Si, and am very pleased with the ride quality. They allow you to adjust the damping rate on both rebound and compression from four settings for both the front and rear. I leave them on the softest setting when I casually drive, and the ride is fairly smooth. They are listed for $380 for a complete set of 4 at coximport.com, with free shipping.

Also, if you have some money leftover, you can find a set of GC coilovers, which comes with Eibach springs, for about $289. I got the anniversary edition, which comes with springs with a predetermined spring rate. But when I coupled them up with the KYB AGX, the ride was still fairly smooth, but firm. I have 16" rims, and I lowered the car to have about a finger space all around.
