ok, i did a search and didnt really find an answer to my question, so here goes. i have a '99 civic ex with a d16y8, my question is, would i benefit from putting a z6 head on it or should i stick with the y8? from what i've read a lot of people have the z6 head on their d15 or y7 blocks but i never read about anyone having one on their y8 block, so any info would be appreciated.
one more question, is there any other head that might be better than both on the y8 block?

They put the z6 head on a d15 or y7 block because they want to add Vtec. The z6 head has a better flow design but In my opinion I would just keep the same head on the car so you wont have to go through the hassle. You wont feel a difference in performance from switching heads.

^^^^ yup, y7 and y8 blocks are the same thing, of the two heads the z6 has more potential when it comes to high horsepower figures due to the better design of the intake track, but the y8 head was designed to be very efficient at lower power levels, and more detonation resistant than the z6. both are good heads but when you start talking about 350+ horses the z6 has the flow to not choke the engine. so for now you probobly wouldn't get any gain.
