So ever since I put my ZC in my car has had a problem charging. At first I thought it was the battery, so I purchased a new one and it was fine for about 2 weeks. Then it died again, it charges from time to time and will start cool 8 out of 10 times, but sometimes it just randomly wont start, an needs to be jumped or I just pop the clutch. I don't think it's the alternator because it has never died while it's already on or driving. I know it's not the battery because i just purchesed it brand new. What could the problem be, any suggestions would be great, THANKS!!! :bubbrubb: :bubbrubb: :bubbrubb: :

sounds like something is being left on when you turn your car on. something must be draining the battery, it won't do it by itself overnight.

The thing is, I took out the dome light, so I know its not that, I dont have a stereo so it definately not that. Also it doesnt happen overnight, I'll drive around all day and it'll be fine most of the time, then I'll turn the car off & go inside my house for about 15 minutes, and when I'm ready to leave again it just won't start. (Doesn't happen all the time, but it does occur)

when this happens, do you have power to anything? if you do have power to say lights, stereo, etc... it could be your starter, plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, coil, etc..

No, when this happens I dont get any power as all as if my battery is completely dead. I have brand new spark plugs and wires.

Check all 3 of your ground wires. 1 is one the valve cover, the 2nd one is on the tranny and the 3rd one is on the thermostat housing. If any of these are loose or dirty and not making good contact it may cause the problem you have.

Just because it has never died while running doesn't mean the alternator is fine. If the alternator is giving out enough to run the car but not enough to charge the battery, then the symptoms you describe could be caused by the alternator.

The ground wire on the valve cover will cause a no-start, the ground on the tranny (top-side straight down from intake tube) will cause no-start AND runability problems. Best advice - take an hour one day, find all your grounds, disconnect/clean each point one at a time with a good steel bristled brush. While you're there, check to make sure none of them are frayed/broken. If problem still exsists, run down the ignition system with a voltmeter. Check everything including ignition switch and starter. Sorry for the long post.
