VTEC Question

I was wondering for the people who have the JDM D15B engine in their cars (or not) when the VTEC engagement kicks in? I am getting a swap very soon but want to know when it kicks in so I can test if it's working...Or anyone know a diff way of testing?

Honestly, my ECU is set to 5500rpm, but I've learned that doesn't mean much. In 2nd gear, it engages around 5200 (my tach is off, too... might be slightly lower). In 3rd gear it seems to hit aroun 5000rpm. And it's a very smooth transition, too, just like it should be.

To test if it's working, remove your air intake tube and put a stocking over the throttle body. You'll definitely hear it kick in.

Thanks Makku. Ive heard its a smooth transition and its really hard to feel it. But I have a CAI so I should be able to feel the push.
