i'm new to the d-series world since i'm a b-series racer..
i just installed a 95d16z6 in my eg after i blew my b18c in my daily driver...
it has a iceman intake focuz 4-2-1 header and a greddy power extreme.. what else can i do bolt on all motor to get some power ie cam, chip tb etc..Ireally don't know what makes good power on these engines....any secrets on what to do.. i've seen on the net alot of people useing the zex street/strip cam.. does that require springs??? any help would be great thanks...

If you get a cam with higher lift you should always get springs, and retainers at least. Cam and porting your head will give you more HP, esp porting around the valve areas. Then mess with your timing and your cam timing. Run a higher octane fuel ie 94 or so. Look into what transmission you have... If it is a DX or so tranny you might want to swap it to an EX trans. Someone else will chime in I am sure!

Welcome to the D side of the fence

Good Luck

you can raise compression little bit with other d-series pistons, almost each one fit into different. you can reach about 13:1 with OEM stock part... (for sure rod upgrade is required at this point, but LS rod fit with bushing kit and some machining but i'm not a fan of them, eagle rods are pretty strong)

D-series parts are much cheaper than B, and you can make a lot of power the same as a B !

Read our threads and forums, you will find a lot of great setup, idea and technical about D-series engine :)

Welcome to you :)

thanks guys... any suggestion on a cam, and possibly a chip ...what piston/rod combo can I use to get compression that does not exceed 12:1??

There are lots of cams Crower, ZEX, Comp...

I dono much about chips except that the +up the fuel input... maybe someone else can help on that one.

Again Lots of rod companies out there, Crower, Eagle... do a search

Lots of pistons companies out there to include stock ones from different motors. Maybe someone else can take a stab at this one!

The ZC Piston will yield a 12:1 compression ratio.

The P29 / PM7 pistons from DOHC ZC or 88-89 integra D16A1 is pretty good. They are cheap to buy and provide around 11.8:1 - 12.1:1 CR (depends on the bore). I think the stock rods are good enough if you are not going over 200whp. Cam is very depends, I love my comp 59300, but I never try others. I just use stock retainers with comp valve springs. For more improvement, you can P&P your head and aftermarket imtake manifold, and larger throttle body.
