i was thinkin of gettin the sr909 and putting it in my a6, i have i/h/e and p&p and 3 angle valve job, if i get the sr909 and some springs and retainers, how high can i safely rev my engine out to with the stock block? because if i can only rev it a lil higher than 7, then is it even worth it to have that cam in my car, would it be smarter to just buy the street cam where i know i can safely rev it out to the cam's full potential?

8k i would say is safe for any D series. I have heard of some tuners taking theirs to 8500 and 9000 but i wouldnt recomend this. Rods would be the biggest issue. Especially in an older D block.

Cap it at 8000. its a nice round figure and is still way higher than any dick focus racers.

you can call Will at exospeed i talked to him yesterday he told me he took him a6 to 8500 every day till 80,000. they never blew he just rebuilt on his own.

yes it is a good idea to replace them. you dont absolutly have to it will work if you dont but you dont want to be robbing yourself of power and durability by not replacing them. if you want to save money buy new stock ones from honda. but i would recomend getting the ones from exospeed becouse they have done so much R&D on what works with what to get you the most hp possible.

Is that SR909 cam low to mid, or mid to upper end?
I just got a JG301x (mid to upper) in my a6 with a sufficent amount of engine work and i take it up to 7500 for shits and giggles. I did replace the valve springs and retainers when i did the cam. I got all JG stuff! I would replace them if it is an aggressive cam.

I take my B2 with the JG301X cam in it up to 7500 everyday...My engine has 190k on it too. It's been about 4k since I installed the cam, and no problems yet. I love that cam though, even though I still can't get it to idle consistantly.

race vs. street......

wheere does YOUR cam make power, esp. after the upshift?

I used 7,000 on stock cam, with/without juice. With ZEX 59300 and springs I leaning towards 7400 rpm.

Sure I can rev higher, but will their be useable power????????
How will the motor feel after the gear change???????

well i hear with the pg7 ecu the 88-89 integ ecu it'll let me rev my a6 to 7500rpm's butttttttt does it have to be the 5speed ecu or could it be the auto ecu? because the junkyard's in my area only have he auto one....

The auto ecu will work fine, it will throw the code for the auto lock up, code 19? dont remember... Yes you can go to 8k no problem, Im going to 8700 on a full built head with exo race cam right now. 30k so far, and it sees redline everyday all the time.

Silent Wrath...

I got mine off of ebay for a whopping $60. Hows about that for budget racing!? I've spent less than $400 on my motor and I'll put money on my car beating a car like mine with a stock B16 in it...stupid B-series...

I got my JG301x to idle fine. It freaks out then the AC is on. But on the highway, it's smooth sailin. How many degrees did you advance it?
