undefined I am looking for a new engine for my 1994 civic with a d15z1, because i am really tired of getting killed by my friends gsr and i was wondering what would be a good engine to put in it. I was personally thinking that i should go for a DOHC ZC but maybe something else might be less trouble and less money. I'm open to all suggestions.

I think im just going to go with an ls motor now that i think about it, then ill probably put a vtec head on it in the future

Put a Y8 in it you can get everything for those motors. FUCK DOHC's. Not worth it IMO... unless you get a K20...

go with a z6 its an even easier swap and do some mods to it like i,h,e, cam or even a junkyard turbokit.

yo i got a ZC dohc and they are pretty good.
parts seem to be harder to get, than say for d16y8 but yeah i wouldnt mind a
sohc 1.6 vtec over my 1.6 dohc nonvtec.
as long as shes a D shell kill gsr's. haha
get a ghetto turbo kit dude and hang it off a d16y8

If you keep the sohc the only way you would beat your friends gsr would be with nitrous or a turbo. The ls/vtec swap sounds nice.

ls/vtec only sounds nice when you can get a fucking HELL OF A DEAL ( $1200 complete swap with tranny ) and good luck finding any of that shit for under $2500 bucks

yup, plan on spending around $1500 for homemade turbo....
EDIT: or maybe $600 for nitrous....what does he have 160? so you need around 55hp more?

About the same power as a decently built LSVTEC but with less weight (enemy) and far less $$$ out the pocket
No Bling points for me but I could care less about what the kid with the baggy pants says
Right now I'm I've spent $270 and all I need now is good Turbo Exh, oil lines and couplers/clamps for my charge piping (Krylon paint cans anyone???)

Used Greddy 15g kit $1200 (JRC FMIC, turbo timer, BOV, manual boost controller all that shit)
DSM 450cc Injectors and resistors $65
ECU $135 (added chipping hardware)
Rom Burner $60
Uberdata FREE
Walbro pump $90
Wideband o2 $350
Laptop to tune $225
Total $2605
turn the boost up and an estimated 190-200+ WHP
LS swap installed $2500 160ish hp and no balls to show it, oh and no goodies to play Nintendo roms on.

That sounds pretty good, maybe i should just keep the vtec-e and turbo it, or maybe just get another d-series what do ya'll think would be best?

i think it would be smart NOT to spend 2500 bucks on an LSVTEC ... you should spend 450 and get a d15b THEN turbo it ..... just like bizzar said

The point I was trying to make was how much you save for MORE HP. The end result is a ton of equipment for future use. Don't think of something as "expensive" think of it more as an investment. Such as a wideband o2 controller setup, a laptop, rom burner. These are all re-usable items that can be used from car to car no matter what you buy. Some of the best damn things I have bought and I couldnt be more happy. How can ANYONE even consider a B series unless they have wads upon wads of cash laying around. It just doesnt make any damn sense to me to spend 2500 bucks on a damn stock engine swap with mediocre output.

Why would i put a non vtec 1.5 liter in instead of keeping my vtec-e 1.5 liter, whats the point of that?

the d15b he is referring to is a 130hp vtec engine...but i'd rather have a non vtec over a vtec-e anyday....but the d15b is a good swap and a strong motor.

get rid of the vx motor ..... that shit does NOTHING for you ( maybe good gas mileage )
find either a d15b 0r a d16z6 ...... then you have at least something WORTH modding
