I bought a 272 delta cam. I live in WA :-) , so I drove the core to delta. $60.00 . I have a b2 with a A6 cam in it right now, with the cam gear set at 5 degrees advanced. ( I took the cam gear and set it at 5 degrees advance then put it on the cam. Then matched up the side notches on the cam gear to the head and put the timing belt on.) I run great now w/o the delta cam. My question is, What cam gear setting should I use or do I just leave it the same (5 degrees advanced? )

it cost to you 60$ for regrind ? well... It cost to me 90$ who's the scammer ?

If your head is much milled or block decked, maybe 5deg adv. can be right, but I don't think that much on almost stock engine is good.. maybe 2-3 advance if you're bolt on around are better in a mid powerband if you have like 4-2-1 header, y8 intake, no valvespring and stock rev limiter or you can retard some degrees to little bit higher rpm, if you have big 4-2-1 or 4-1 header, ported head, skunk 2 or edelbrock mani, higher rev limiter and valve spring and more, maybe you can reach better number with higher rpm... It's nothing here something based in rock, but may have some influence on starting minor tuning before going on dyno...

U can leave it at 0 degrees for now, try advance or retard ignition timing, raise little bit gaz pressure, try starting those tuning mode about each 2 degrees step, like at 0, + 2 , + 4, and 0, -2, -4...

After that play with unit if you like more feeling of you're car around +2,+4 advance, try it with +3 with playing again with ignition and pressure...maybe you can find where you like the most, and maybe when you will go on dyno it will be easier to explain your feelings and what you did to try...

Don't forget that Hp aren't the only way to win race. On dyno it's better to loose 2 top end whp and gain 8-9lbs/tq at 500rpm lower instead of gaining 2whp at 500rpm higher and loose 8-9tq ...

good luck !

What I meant was, before you put the timing belt on. The cam gear and crankshaft pulley are set to tdc. When putting a A6 cam in a b2, you advance the cam gear 5 degrees before you put the timing belt on. So my question is cam timing before putting on the timing belt.
