main with customer supplied bearings

housing W/ bearing shaft clearance
1 2.1665 2.1645 .0020
2 2.1666 2.1644 .0022
3 2.1655 2.1648 .0007
4 2.1666 2.1647 .0019

rods with customer supplied bearings

housing W/ bearing shaft clearance
1 1.7728 1.771 .0018
2 1.7728 1.771 .0018
3 1.7728 1.771 .0018
4 1.7728 1.7709 .0019

the clearance for the book says that for the main bearings

standard (new) NO. 1,5 journals:
.018-.036mm(.0007-.0014 in.)
NO. 2,3,4 journals:
.024-.0042mm(.0010-.0017in.)
service limit .05mm(.002in.)

the clearance for the rods are

standard (new).020-.038mm(.0008-.0015in.)
service limit .05mm(.002in.)

my Question is by his measurements i am almost off the honda specs on the book and could they be a little bit tighter? and would it be better to tighten them up? and what to do with the NO. 3 main? i know i need a smaller bearing but i called honda and they dont know the shell thickness for the bearings just the color for them.

this is a vitara build for turbo about 450 WHP is what im shooting for.
First off there are 5 mains bearings not 4, find that info out on the other and I can help you with that one also

but from the info you gave and how I took it

mains
1-fine
2-tighten it up a bit
3-loosen it up,thats a spun bearing waiting to happen
4-fine

All your rods are fine

King,acl,clevite,etc... standard bearings are green
the acl's ive gotten in the past year or two have been more of a brown then a green (a bit bigger)

On your #2 main get 1 brown bearing half and spec it out, it should be perfect. If still a lil loose get another brown half and then try that.

#3 get 2 red bearing halves and that should take you somewhere between .0015-.0019"

On N/a engines that i build I spec to .0015" on all mains and rods
On boosted engines that I build I spec a lil looser about .0017-.0022 depending on application, the build, how much boost,etc..

Im in a good mood today lol... usually I dont talk to much. hope that helps you out.
